Obviously you have a reason for making such a statement BUT it can't have been more than a handful of people who gave you the opinion. In 2000, approx 7% of the world was vegetarian and vegan. So you just called 462 MILLION people self-righteous. Maybe in the future you should try not to stereotype people.

Yeah, i think i'm getting aggravated via them representing different vegetarians that way. yet i'd do the comparable element if I wasn't a coward. they are doing what they think of is nice and attempting to get human beings to have greater admire for animals. Their procedures is probably no longer very tactful, yet a minimum of they are doing something. there is often a level of arrogance approximately everybody who's attempting to instruct, lecture, or pontificate, no depend what their intentions are.

Being a former vegetarian it probably comes from having to defend their decision not to eat meat or meat proteirn. While I was a vegetarian I cannot begin to count the number of times that I had to explain that I wasn't just being "difficult" or "different". I had made choices in my life to not partake of animal flesh and didn't appreciate people who thought I was "weird" because I didn't eat meat. I have been eating seafood and an occasional "meat" dish for the last 3 years but I still have a great amount of respect for people who choose to eat vegetarian/vegan.
edit...There are also some people who will preach to the world that vegetarian/vegan is the ONLY way to eat...I group these persons in the minority where diet is concerned.

Excuse me? Self-righteousness is a fault and we vegetarians have no faults.
(I was being sarcastic, actually. I didn't think anybody would take that seriously, but I guess I was wrong about that.)
Yes, some people get really excited about an idea and sometimes they overdo it. Vegetarians aren't the only ones who are guilty of that, though.
Dr. Kevorkian strikes me as a very self-righteous guy. Dr. Phil and Geraldo Rivera are pretty damn self-righteous if you ask me.

Wow, thats a sweeping generalization. As a vegetarian, I could give a flip what anyone else eats, nor should they concern themselves with what I eat. I have no need to be self righteous about what I nourish my body with. Why are people like you so closed minded? To lump everyone within the vegetarian community as self righteous is as ignorant as saying all omnivores are named bubba and chew tobacco, dont you think?

Good question.
I got 10 thumbs down for telling a self proclaimed "big" meat eater, he should have a well balanced diet instead of going vegetrian if his only concern was health.
Bad answer? Nah, correct answer.
