If it is vegan food you are eating, I say eat until you are full! Listen to your body.

If you are eating a vegetarian diet, just cut back on the milk, cheese, eggs.

Try drinking some water with your meal.

The portion sizes depend on the food, but what I generally do is take a little bit of all the foods I want - maybe a cup (fist) of salad, and a cup of pasta, for example. Eat it slowly, and pay attention to what your body is saying. When you finish, if you are still hungry, you can take another portion - but take a smaller one, no more than half the size of what you took the first time. If you are satisfied or full, stop eating, no matter how tempting it is to grab some more food and pick at it.

Before my pregnancy, I used to go by what the packages said, almost exactly. However, now I just eat until I'm full and sometimes, more if I'm at a dinner with good fruit and veggie salads. It seems to take more to fill me these days, but eh. I eat mostly good, whole foods, so it's not as though I'm living on junk.

A portion is normally about the size of your fist when it is balled.

Keep in mind that your stomach is the same size as your fist and gauge your meals from there. Good luck and stay hydrated!
