i dont know anything about them having anything against them. however a certain religion (Jehovah's Witness) is strictly against any kind of blood transfusions or even showing their arms.
maybe you got them confused.

I think what you might be asking is if a vegan needs a BT the blood may be coming from a non-vegan. If that's what you wanted to know I think it would be a personal opinion of what's right for you.
If your pretty bad off or as an emergency surgery, I kinda think it's like giving you another go at it to do something worthwhile with that second chance. Like "be vegi and spread the love"...lol
Now BT are one thing but how about the organ transplants that use pig hearts or insulin from cows. I know the testing on animals is used a lot to help people live longer and better from the meds produced by all that, BUT, who decided that people are so great?
Personally, I'd rather run over some stupid kid (which probably knew better) that's in the road then a squirrel or bunny.

Jehova's witnesses believe that blood transfusions are technically eating blood, which is forbidden by the bible. The vast majority of people, vegans included, would say that blood transfusions are a medically necessary intervention in life and death situations. I think a vegan would say that blood transfusions are ok because people choose to donate blood, as opposed to animals that don't choose to be eaten.

Was the blood donated willingly by a consenting adult? Or, was it taken painfully & by force? Did anyone or anything die or suffer in the course of obtaining the blood for the transfusion?
I believe it's the suffering and lack of consent that puts many vegans off from eating meat or using animal products. I don't see how blood transfusion would be a problem.

I have no idea what would be wrong with it. You're not killing the person donating blood. They're willingly donating it, not being forced, and might even get free juice or a few bucks out of it. I don't see the connection between this and being vegan.

Unless they have a religious belief that forbids it (Jehovah's Witness) there is nothing about a blood transfusion that would be "unvegan."
Since humans give blood willingly to help others, there is no death or unwilling suffering involved. There shouldn't be a problem.
