I was reading a recipe from a Canadian site and I am not sure what the recipe meant when it called for "6 x 6 egg yolks". Since I know that the recipe is a custard I can assume that it is perhaps equivalent to 6 large egg yolks in an American recipe. Is that correct?

I am trying to find healthy recipes for cookies, muffins, and breads. I was wondering if I can just take a regular recipe and replace the white flour with whole wheat, the sugar with a sugar substitute, and possibly even the butter with applesauce.

we don't want to blow it for the holidays, but I feel we all deserve a treat.

I am having a black and white themed party and would like black ice cubes. Would black food coloring work in the tray and freeze and be ok to drink? Does anyone have any better ideas?

It's my turn to make dinner tomorrow night, and I randomly pulled out a recipe for couscous from the cookbook. After getting the ingredients for the recipe (it's basically just couscous with bits of vegetables thrown in), I realized that couscous is probably not actually supposed to be a main course. Any ideas for something (easy!) to throw with it to make a more substantial meal?

Looking for something easy and cheap to make as a hoilday gift for neighbors. Even a good rice crispie treat holiday style would work!

Here is the catch...I need recipes that are not like the plain everyday potluck food. No boring meatballs, lil smokies, chex mix, etc! I need something easy with littel ingredients but that is a little different that the ordinary. Maybe a recipe yo uhave made up and is not posted all over allrecipe.com!! haha

Any ideas?

The last four times i made cupcakes followed the directions on the box they burned. Last night I even put them in for 5 minutes less than the lowest time on the box and the bottoms still burned.

I am going to buy prime rib to have christmas eve for a gathering we are having. Someone told me not to buy it now, because freezing it will ruin it. Christmas eve is 11 days away and I just want to know if I should wait until its gets closer. I have cooked prime rib before, but I always bought it the same day I was cooking it. With it being christmas it might be hard to find if I wait until christmas eve. Any suggestions?

Recently, 24 6 oz cans of Solid white Albacore in Water came into my possession. Now, I'm one of those odd people who can eat it right out of the can with no problem. But, that gets old after a while. Other then adding Mayo, what ideas can you guys give me to "spice up" the tuna with?

what are some really good cookbooks, that contain recipies that are easy to make, that dont have lts of weird ingredients you can only pick up at health food stores and specialty shops. I love Jamie Oliver, but can you recomend other books worth purchasing?
