I was making chocolate chip cookies last night. I love baking and enjoy making cookies. Well, I had a long day at work, and I have been trying to cut back on my coffee intake so I was EXHAUSTED when I was making them last night at 7pm. Instead of baking soda, I put in baking powder. I didn't catch it until I had mixed everything in. I read the ingredients and in baking powder there is baking soda in it. I thought I would be ok. The cookies took almost twice as long to cook and they weren't that tasty in my opinion. The kids loved them and my husband ate most of them after I went to bed last night.

What about the baking powder made it different. I only put in one teaspoon.

I am sick of paying over the odds for sarnies and meals on a lunchtime when I'm at work, and then having no money at the end of the week to go out and enjoy myself (well, not that bad, but you know what I mean).

I would love some tasty alternatives to the boring 'sandwich'. I'm not a fussy eater and like most things...so, let me know your best lunchtime delights!

It can't have too much sugar as I'm diabetic, and not much in the way of Carbs as I've got high blood pressure! I'm just getting a bit bored of plain vegetables!

Thanks

We have these cheap pots and pans that are non stick. They came as a 4 piece set. 3 out of the 4 have caused the ''coloring'' to come off quite quickly actually we haven't had these pots all that long they have made the bottoms of the pots rusty and outside the coloring is coming off. My question is what the headline reads and also am i just being ''paranoid'' or is this a problem? I think they should be tossed out and buy better ones i don't like the thought of risking my family's health over the life span of a pot or pan. (Been thought of as paranoid for this.) I appreciate your opinions and suggestions. Also, we had stainless steel pots and pans but they damaged too quickly and i thought non stick was the better option but now im finding out otherwise or maybe non stick is the better option but they were cheap pots and pans so maybe it's getting what you pay for?

This is a bit of a strange question... A friend of mine purchased a can of 'rose petals in syrup' from an Indian grocery store. It has a consistancy like jam, and is very sweet- but also very fragant and floral-tasting. It tastes very much like what it is. It is also not aesthetically pleasing at all, and the flavor is very unique and quite strong.

We decided to have a dinner party, and see who could come up with a better way to make something out of it.
She is going to try to create a rose cheesecake. I thought it would be more interesting to try to make something more meal-like, since there are a zillion dessert recipes out there with roses.
I thought perhaps I could make a tangy-sweet rose vinaigrette and put it on a salad, or make some sort of spicy rose chutney and put it on some curried potatoes...

Does anyone have any other suggesions of how to use roses in a meal (preferably vegetarian)?

It has purple leaves and looks like it belongs to the cabbage family. The name sounds like ridicule? I think it's used a lot in Italian cooking.
Thanks

Please tell me how much of it to add. I have been using the smoked Chipotle Tabasco sauce instead of pods, and I would like to try something different.
