Usually get roped into making Chicken and Rice soup. My family likes it, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also usually make a potato/onion/egg/sausage or ham/cheese dish for the family that was something I modified from an omelet recipe.

I'm a decent cook, but I usually try not to cook for them because they eat heavier, more meat based dishes than I normally do.

We try a lot of different things. Everytime I go to a yard sale........I get cookbooks cheap!!! About 25 or 50 cents each. I have found some great recipes. Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Polish........you name it ..........I try it.

My only rule of thumb.......If you absolutely HATE one of the ingredients then substitute or eliminate that ingredient (if possible)...or else move on to a different recipe.

We buy whatever is on sale at the grocers that week and find a recipe for it. That really cuts down on the grocery bill....when you are always buying the bargains of the week. Most stores rotate what is on sale........so no boredom!

We do eat a lot of chicken as it is usually always cheap and it is very versatile. My hubby says he is never bored with our "menu".

I do try not to make the same thing more than once a month......unless it is a "favorite".
