Me and the family our having our first dinner together in maybe 2 years. Were not so close any more. I'm just wanting everyone to enjoy this dinner as if it were any other. Like I said were not really close so what should we talk about?
It's a dinner for 4. Me, my brother & sister (both younger), and my mom. If that helps any.....

Oh Happy Turkey Day to all! Best of luck on your meals together tonight!

It is in a turkey pan, covered, with a bit of water. It has been in 2 hours but does not seem done. I do not have a meat thermometer.

I have received so many negative responses to the fact that I will be having a vegetarian wedding. Both my fiance and I are lacto-ovo vegetarians and for moral reasons. We would be uncomfortable with serving meat (including fish). But many people think I should accomodate to my guests' preferences. Or else they'll starve (i know, crazy).

I feel that it's only one meal, and vegetarian food does not mean starvation! Quite the opposite, you can eat tons and get your protein (and all other nutrition) quite easily. There's no 'imposing', as it's just one meal. And everyone can enjoy it (I will be having 1-2 vegans, so I'm trying to work around that as well).

I asked this question under the Wedding section, about what people would want at a Vegetarian wedding...got lots of responses dealing with people starving and they wouldn't go and it's rude, etc etc.

For those of you vegetarian couples who had a vegetarian wedding reception, how did you manage it?

And i'm not a normal drinker, this is the first time. I'm 16, and it's in someone's house (so it's legal over here). I'm not gonna be drinking after it, so i'm just wondering what, if any, risks are involved.

My brother said his wife didnt want him to put the wine in the fridge because she thinks it should not be drank cold.
She is Bulgarian. She drinks pop room temperature. I am sure its a cultural thing with her.
How do we convince her we like our wine chilled, or should I just bring my own bottle? Do you chill your wine?

Okay, this is my 1st yr cooking a turkey. I saw Emeril on Live w/Regis & Kelly doing a cajun injected turkey and I kinda like spicy stuff but my family doesnt, Emeril said it was not so spicy it was over powering, which i thought would be perfect. Well i tried the recipe, unfortunately i did not have a flavor injector so I simply marinated the turkey in the marinade over night. The aroma from the oven is 2 much, it almost smells sickly sweet, but in a bad way. What can I do to salvage this poor bird. Much thanks in advance for all suggestions!!

My boyfriend invited me over to his Parent's house for Thanksgiving. (A loooong time ago.)
I was informed by his Mother yesterday that they would be skipping the traditional turkey and instead would eat king crab and various sea food dishes.
She then went on to tell me she didn't think there would be anything for me to eat, as I am a vegetarian.
Well, call me a stickler for etiquette, but aren't the hosts supposed to provide the vegetarian guest with something vegetarian to eat?
If they don't want to go out of their way to cook something or pick something up for me, at least my boyfriend should, right?
I told his Mother (who I get along with well, by the way) that I could just pick something up for myself at the store and bring it over. She didn't object.
I don't know if they are completely lacking in manners or if I am just expecting what I think is a normal thing..is it me, or isn't that truly very rude?

Can I add fresh strawberries to a cake, then bake it? Or will the strawberries burn?

If so, then what is better to use? Fresh strawberries or frozen ones?
