Okay, this is my 1st yr cooking a turkey. I saw Emeril on Live w/Regis & Kelly doing a cajun injected turkey and I kinda like spicy stuff but my family doesnt, Emeril said it was not so spicy it was over powering, which i thought would be perfect. Well i tried the recipe, unfortunately i did not have a flavor injector so I simply marinated the turkey in the marinade over night. The aroma from the oven is 2 much, it almost smells sickly sweet, but in a bad way. What can I do to salvage this poor bird. Much thanks in advance for all suggestions!!

Put a potato inside the turkey, it will absorb a lot of the marinade taste...remove it before it turns mushy (when easily poked with a fork)
Febreze works excellent for cooking odors.
They have Frebreze candles instead of spraying.
(neutralizes odors, not just cover them up)

I think you may just have to laugh at the situation and go buy an already made turkey or just serve yours, what's thanksgiving without bad turkey. I give you props you tried. I have yet to make a turkey. I can only suggest one thing, maybe add some turkey or chicken broth to the pan the turkey is in maybe that will help neturalize the heavy spices.
hey Sadie is kinda right use a potatoe- see the following-
SOUP OR STEW TOO SALTY
Make sure you never measure seasonings right over the pot or bowl. It's just too easy for your hand to slip, the cat to run under your legs, or someone to startle you. If it's already happened, we used to think that adding a raw cut up potato added to the soup would absorb much of the additional salt, but recent research has disproven this. Really the only way to diminish the salt is to add more of the other ingredients to the soup; in other words, add more of every ingredient except the salt. This is also the only way to fix recipes when you've added too much hot sauce, Tabasco, cayenne pepper, or chilies.

The other ideas listed here seem like great things to try. And if all else fails make sure there are enough side dishes and I promise next year it will be the funny story of years gone by. Don't take it to hard, Cooking is definitely a trial and error experience. My first year making Thanksgiving dinner I got the recipe from my mom for stuffing and wrote down 20 loaves of bread instead of 20 cups. Unfortunately I had the spices righ for the regular batch. We wound up with enough flovorless stuffing to feed 200 people.

rinse the turkey until a fast running cold tap, if you have already cooked it im afriad theirs nothing you can do except hope the turkey tastes okay, as for the smell, use some airfresher and open the windows, the smells from the other food should hopefully take it away good luck

well, depending on how long it has been in there you can take it out and rince it off then put it back in. This will only work if it isn't too done already. Make sure to dump the drippings also. Then put in at least one can of chicken broth to make up for the lost drippings.
Good Luck
