Food & Drink - 15 April 2007

What can I make that won't take a long time and is good? I have to be on a train at 6:30 every morning and always wind up choking down one of those awful breakfast bars or not eating anything until I get to my destination and then choking down something disgusting from a fast food place.

One friend of mine in particular seems to voice his opinion rather rudely in my opinion about a place we had gone for the first time. He will say this place sucked or knock a place if he didn't like it. If I thought it was a good place or even decent he still says it and I think its very rude, if he doesnt like it he shouldn't voice such an opinion. What would be your reaction if someone did that to you?

I have some chicken filets that I want to cook for my boyfriends birthday. I don't know exactly how to make them flavored. Last time, I cut them up in little pieces and just cooked them in the skillet and they were really good. But then I put them in a Santa Fe Style taco so I never got to really eat them. What spices or marinades could I use to give the chicken really good flavor?

What ever happened to brand loyalty? It is very frustrating to go to the store only to find that they are no longer going to stock what you are used to using with a more expensive product. Does your grocery store do that?

Cucas Cookie Recipe?

There is a cooki in puerto rico called Cucas.

This is my favorite cookie which I've only had purchased. It is a very hard, crunchy, dark brown flat cookie. It sort of has a molasses and/or ginger taste to it.

I would love to be able to make these from scratch. I have searched for months on line and I have posted this question before. So far I don't know ANYONE who has a recipe.

Apparently there is a site with a recipe for Galletas de Cuca which is Costa Rican but it is completely different from the one I am looking for from Puerto Rico.

Please help!!!! SOMEONE has got to have the recipe. If you live in Puerto Rico or are in Puerto Rico I would very much appreciate if you could ask around maybe at the local Panaderia or an older person. It seems like our elders in Puerto Rico have the recipes to all the foods we are starting to lose over time!
