I have forgotten the name for one of my favourites meal I had during my visit in Valais in Switzerland. It is made of one or two thick pieces of local bread moisted with brandy. On top of that goes cheese, sometimes gherkins, slice of tomato, an egg and some herbals. It is than baked in an oven for some time and served very hot with glass of local wine. Anyone can remember the name of it in swiss? English translation is also ok. Thanks for any help.

We've all heard about French vanilla as in French Vanilla ice cream BUT is there actually a difference between the two. Vanilla beans come from all over but have your ever heard of Madagascar Vanilla ice cream? So, does anyone really know if there is a difference or is ALL vanilla ... just vanilla?

I purchased chicken approx 48 hours ago. If I had not purchased that chicken or another that was packaged at the same time until the next night it would have just stayed on the refrigerated shelf in the store an extra day ...and then I would have brought it home and technically had 48 hours to use it or freeze it. So using this logic is it okay to not use the chicken I purchased until tomorrow night (72 hours from when I bought it?) I know those are just suggestions, but I am tired of this whole sell by, expiration date, and recommended storage stuff. I don't want to freeze the chicken and then microwave it...

I am a shuttle driver for the railroad. I am on call for a 24 hour period but it seems they call me to take a crew somewhere when it is time for sleeping. No matter how much rest I get before hand I am still tired. I have tried coffee, capuccino, Red Bull, and this stuff called 5 hour energy. None of those things seem to help. I even got this capuccino tonight that was double caffeine but no luck. I am not a caffeine drinker so this is not a case of you have already had too much caffeine. my normal drinks are water and white tea. Please help! thanks.

I am having a family function and there will be children, they don't drink much alcohol, so I was wanting some sophisticated non-alcoholic drinks to serve...thanks--also if they were quick and easy that would be great also.

I used to make grilled chicken all the time on the George Foreman grill...but I recently replaced that with a cast iron skillet, because it was a PAIN in the *** to clean. And steaks on a cast iron skillet are delicious.

So anyway, I try making the chicken the same way I do the steaks. I covered it in sesame seed oil, tossed it on the hot skillet for about a minute each side, then placed it in a 425 degree oven for 3 minutes on each side. It came out gross.

What am I doing wrong? The chicken was marinated in spiedie sauce (mostly soybean oil and vinegar with lots of herbs and spices), but it came out really bad compared to the Foreman grill.

I just started getting into whisky, I love the way it tastes, but I want to ask the true Whisky lovers out there, what is the brand and type that tastes the best? Which do you buy?

lentils= cheap
beans=cheap
nuts=cheap
most veggies=cheap
bread=cheap
pasta=cheap
tofu=cheap( like 1.50 per pack)
mushrooms(button)=cheap
granola/oatmeal=cheap
rice=usually cheap unless it's a special grain like forbidden or sushi rice

steak=mad expensive
salmon=often more expensive than steak
ham=expensive
cold cuts= cheap but poor quality anyway
chicken=more or less expensive but still costs more than vegetarian options

real spiel:animal imitations and specialty items are expensive

vegan cookies(one cookie is about 2 dollars)
non dairy spread( It is a bit pricy but it's really good)
seitan/tofu( if it's marinated or something)
veggie burgers
veggie dogs
veggie nuggets
veggie bacon
veggie meat substitute
soymilk(it's still worth it tho)
non dairy ice cream(I buy it on occasion and it tastesjust like the real thing)

anything in a box is $$

So does anyone think that vegetarianism is costly?
or do you just spend alot on special items?
