Wash the rice throughly before you cook it, and you might try adding peas, corns or carrots to the rice.
You can also add chicken broth or other broth/gravy.
My favourite is adding hot butter to the rice!
Anything goes with rice, and as long as you like it, it works!

Instead of water use chicken broth or stock. The Swansons brand is fine. After the rice is cooked, simmer it in butter with finely chopped onions, garlic, and tomatoes. after about 15 minutes add some peas, and cook about 5 minutes more. Add salt, pepper. Enjoy

Well, if you want to try some malaysian food, you should cook the rice with coconut milk and chicken stock. At the same time, steam a chicken until it's tender. Then, chop the chicken into pieces, or if you're like me, just take any part you like and serve them with the rice. This is what we Malaysians call Chicken Rice. Try it..

Fry two or three slices of bacon in a frying pan. Remove the bacon and crumble it up. Add the already boiled rice into the pan with the leftover grease. Add the crumbled bacon, and some vegetables such as mushrooms or peas and stir for several minutes until the rice browns.

Saffron, which is the dried bulb of the autumn crocus. It is a delicacy and therefore a bit expensive, but worth it. You can buy it from the spice area of your supermarket (usually sold in small packets to keep costs down), or from Asian grocers. It goes particularly well with shellfish - great for Spanish paella dishes.
The Turks make saffron into a tea, which is supposed to instantly cure depression.
