I'm brewing stout and the satellite fermenter has developed a thin layer of white stuff and there is some brown stuff on top of that layer. I see the yeast working and there are lots of bubble coming up. The actual fermenter has been bubbling in the airlock for 3 days, and has slowed since the second day. How can I tell if there is mold and is it safe to drink if moldy?

Can the average person taste the difference of a high end cup of coffee. I am going to rule out McDonald's and Dunkin' Donuts and refer to the more exotic blends from your Starbucks and Caribou's and other Specialty Coffee Shops. Can a person discern between Sumatran and Columbian, Kona and Ethiopian, or is good coffee just that, good coffee? I realize there are "super tasters" and "coffee snobs", but I am refering to the average "Joe" so to speak, can they really tell the difference? Cheers!

but I'd like to make the cookie flowers ahead of time. How long do you think they will stay 'good' for in the freezer? Also, I'd like to know what flavor of cookie you like besides sugar..cookie must be pale or white in color like a sugar cookie, as I will be decorating them..but I'd like to mix up the flavors a bit. Maybe just add extracts to a basic sugar cookie dough?

I've just read this story on Yahoo. Apparently wine drinkers are more likely to have a helath diet than beer drinkers. A study in Copenhagen showed that:

'People who bought wine at the store were also more likely to buy more olives, fruits and vegetables, fish, lean meats and dairy products than beer consumers did, said the study.

Beer buyers were more likely to buy frozen dinners, cold cuts, pork, mutton, crisps, sugary products, butter, margarine and soft drinks.'

Do you agree or beg to differ?
