I've just read this story on Yahoo. Apparently wine drinkers are more likely to have a helath diet than beer drinkers. A study in Copenhagen showed that:

'People who bought wine at the store were also more likely to buy more olives, fruits and vegetables, fish, lean meats and dairy products than beer consumers did, said the study.

Beer buyers were more likely to buy frozen dinners, cold cuts, pork, mutton, crisps, sugary products, butter, margarine and soft drinks.'

Do you agree or beg to differ?

I drink either depending on the situation.
The problem with using a study done in one country to draw conclusions about diet in general is the difficulty of not knowing the effect of the Danish culture on this study. There are also issues such as class and income to take into account.
The less healthy beer drinker's diet is going to be cheaper. Most people are influenced by their family and their peers; you're likely to follow the same sort of diet as your family. I drink wine at home with my family or if I'm out for a meal; if it's a night out from work I drink beer because that fits in with rounds better.

i agree!!
i worked at a grocery store and people that bought wine bought salmon and veggies. beer drinkers would have a box of donuts 3 bags of chips and a 18 pack of some cheap nasty beer!!

but also there was an age gap. wine drinkers were normally in there mid 30s and up and the beer drinkers were in their mid 20s to early 30s.

I drink both in moderation and I've been known to have a salad with my beer.

I do agree that fatty foods do go better with beer and vice versa, so the study does have some truth to it, but as the answers above show, a majority of people in this world indulge in both wine and beer.

The only reason that applys is because of the price..... wine is more expensive than beer therfore .... people with more money tend to buy better food than those with less money.... Simple....

I bet that if you found a bottle of wine as cheap as a bottle of beer the people drinking it ...would have the same Dietry habits....

It all comes back to money ... nothing else...

yes i agree. beer doesn't go with lean meats and certain fish or veggies. Then again I guess if you drank enough of either you would not care what you ate! LOL! Seriously though i agree with you. Beer does have the reputation of going good with pork, sugary products, butter and frozen foods.

mmm.....
that's a good question.
but i buy and drink both wine and beer, and always cook fresh food, I've never brought a frozen dinner.
i think it depends on the lifestyle and the individual.
i'll drink to suit my mood.
i'll drink beer to chill out, and have a bottle of wine with dinner and as a long social drink.
i eat plenty of fresh veg and fruit, and drink pleny of water. I consider myself to have a healthy diet.
i can't say what i drink more of out of wine and beer, i'd say it's about the same.
