It's always the same, they seem to be lacking enough spice, and the last one I bought with hope was no different and even seemed to be lacking in the evaporated milk department, seemed a little grainy not creamy. If you have, what store and what Brand Name on the pie?

This is a business mixer with a small company that provides me some referral business. I have a personal relationship with the owner and although I cannot attend, I still want to give a gift that shows my support for his business. I know the owner is personally paying for the party, so I thought a bottle of liquor or wine with a supportive card might be a nice gesture...any thoughts ? If that is a good gift for a cocktail party host, how much should I buy? 1 bottle ? Enough for all guests (30)?
A little background, this company is very trendy and holds frequent social gatherings. A lot of networking goes on at these parties.

I am having a Christmas party next weekend and I was wondering what would be some good, smooth, not too strong alcohol that would be good for taking shots of? Everyone that will be here is of the drinking age, just thought i would add that =]. Some people told me to try shots of Ice 101, Southern Comfort, Captain Morgan. What would you recommend?

I'm referring to the poultry marinade you often find in the Latin section of a supermarket... basically a blend of vinegar, citrus juices, and spices. My local supermarket started carrying it in gallon-sized jugs. This is convenient for us because of how much we use it, but it's a bit large to keep in the refrigerator.

I know that most things containing vinegar (hot sauce, etc) don't require refrigeration, but is this case I wasn't so sure because it also contains fruit juices. Is mojo marinade safe at room temperature after having been opened?

My problem is: I hate cook books, so I cook without.
Some call it French flair; I don't know, it usually works, but not for scones!!!
What I make I call 'pebbles' -that tells you exactly what they're like...
My son loves them and indeed they are edible but I think it is high time I learnt to 'make them proper'.
I anticipate a fair number of very stupid answers -as usual; but I thank you all in anticipation for some sensible advice. ;-)

I dont like cookies that are really sweet like the nestle toll house ones. Those are extremely sweet for me. Made me sick. I want different types of cookies that are a little crunchy around the edges and chewy in the middle

I have a recipe that calls for the mixture be cooked, but it doesn't taste as good as the version where the eggs aren't cooked. My dad insists that the alcohol 'cooks' the eggs and destroys the bacteria and wants me to make Grandpa's recipe, which doesn't call for boiling the mixture. I'm not so sure and don't want to make anybody sick.
