My sister is getting married in Sept. I'm her maid of honor and today I realized I'm supposed to throw her a bridal shower. I've never thrown any kind of party for anyone...but this is supposed to be special cause it's my sisters big day. I was wondering what I should do...I'm broke and I don't know really what I should do for her but I would like to throw her a nice party. Does anyone know what I can do for her that is nice but on a budget and also when I should throw her one? What should we do at this party? (and please don't say strippers...be mature about it please)

My fiance and I have been trying to find the perfect spot for our wedding. We first started by writing down all the people to invite. It was going to be 100 people at first. Then we decided on the perfect spot. It would be outside, in a courtyard of this building downtown. Problem is, it would have to be a small crowd. In all honesty though, the small crowd would be great for us. The two of us are shy and don't like getting up in front of a lot of people. I know it's family, but still.

Anyway, we trimmed our list down to 20 people on each side. Basically it's immediate family, grandparents, aunts and uncles, and a few friends on his side. He also has 3 groomsmen and I have 3 bridesmaids (trimmed down from 6).

How do we go about invites? We can't afford to feed 100 people and this place is also cheaper to rent. We aren't waiting a year or two to save, so don't bother saying. Is there a way to include the other people? The other people on my side aren't really close to me.

I would like to wrap a bow around the reception chairs to dress it up a little. I got tulle but I'm finding it very hard to work with as far as tying pretty bows. Does anyone know any websites or have any ideas for cool chair decorations? Wedding is informal and I'm looking for something unordinary.

Is it wrong to keep a secret from my boyfriend? I was born a guy and went through a sex change operation. I seriously felt that I am in the wrong body. Now that I am a girl, I have a really great boyfriend that I love. He loves me too. We are both 28 years old. We've been together for at least 5 years already. Is it wrong to keep that secret from him? I know he will ask me to marry me soon.

I've heard that renting a wedding gown can be much more affordable, and that you can get a beautiful gown. Anybody have any personal experience, either good or bad? Thanks!

I am planning on getting married in a church. I was raised catholic and my fiancee was raised methodist. What type of church can we get married in? And with that, a good friend of the family is a catholic decon and I really want him to marry us. Will the other churches allow for him to marry us in their church?

My daughter is getting married June 30th..The have planned a big church wedding ..She and her fiance recently bought a house and moved in together. She needed to move there because her father and I were recently divorced and she was living with her dad and brother, who both have drinking problems. Plus, she now only lives bout a mile from her work. Living with me was not an option as I moved too far away. Now because they are living together, the Pastor at the church says he will not marry them in the church with the big wedding we have planned. He will marry them in the church with a small ceremony and a few guests. The dress is bought, the hall is reserved and the cake is ordered. They are now thinking of getting married next weekend with the small ceremony and have the big wedding in June as planned to renew their vows. This is ok with the Pastor. I'm not comfortable with this. This church has always been a big part of her fiances life and she just recently joined. What would you do?

I'm engaged and my mom said that two people have told her that the mother of the bride is supposed to wear beige to the wedding. I've never heard this and she definitely doesn't want to wear beige. Has anyone else heard this and is it really the customary thing?

My sister wants a dessert only reception (for financial reasons), in the evening, but without dancing (the families her and her man are inviting aren't the "dancing type". A friend of mine thought it was tacky to have a dessert only reception, especially if there was no dancing. What do y'all think?

I found really cute canary bridesmaids dresses at Davids Bridal but they do not carry any jr. bridesmaids dresses in this color! I've searched the internet and can't really find jr. bridesmaids dresses in this color. She'll be 10-too old for a flower girl and too young for a bridesmaid. any suggestions?
