I actually don't recommend the personalizing the favors, unless it's something practical that the person will be keeping. I've seen candy given out and most people eat the candy and throw out the message. Instead of party favors, and depending on your budget, I would recommend something more interesting.

I went to a wedding and they had a cartoonist draw caricatures, I thought that was awesome. They keep that because it's a picture of them, just have every drawing signed with your wedding date and your names, whatever. I reckon that'll cost as much as making tons of favors. Another suggestion, though it's not exactly a favor, is spend it on dancing lessons for your first dance, and wow the audience. That memory will last a lot longer than candy wrapped in lace.

But yeah, I've seen people give away vases, glasses, candy, marbles, all just junk. A lot of people just leave them at the table. Oh, a engraved wooden box was fancy, but seriously, only immediate family would care about that.

Congrats.

If youre on a budget save your money. It is not rude or tacky to not give favors. You are hosting a party where you are paying for the food, drinks, and entertainment of a large group of people. They dont need (and often do not even want) anything else but to share the day with you. When you consider that the average american wedding has around 100 people and the average favor costs around $2.50, you are talking around $250 spent on stuff that wont matter or even be remembered (in many instances dont even get taken which means money wasted). That money is better spent on your entertainment to be certain your guests enjoy themselves, or if that is taken care of then add it to your honeymoon funds, who cant use a little extra spending cash on their honeymoon?
Congrats and Good Luck!

Wedding favours are pretty much useless, a lot of people who aren't close to you won't appreciate them.

If you must, do like a kiddie bag almost.

Ferro Rocher (It's a chocolate, not sure if I spelled that correctly, include only maybe a small five pack of them.)
And a couple of other gifts some people will get silk bags with those crystals on it and etc. etc.

I had my two step children walk around with personalised chocolates in a basket. They went around when te coffee was free flowing. Most people just opened and ate them there. I did that because I have lost count of how many wedding favours I have thrown out because they are just dust collectors.

I'm using favor boxes filled with Jelly Belly jelly beans. The boxes have our names & date in gold, & we are attching hot pink ribbion on each end of the box. They turned out beautiful, much better than I even expected.

my sister had cd's made with songs from the wedding and other songs that she felt were important to them. on the cd she had her and her husbands name and the date of the wedding. on the cd holder (a paper sleeve) she wrote:

We would like to thank you for celebrating with us by sharing with you this CD made up of sons that mean a lot to us! Enjoy! (names and date). then it was sealed with heart shaped stickers.
