Weddings - October 2006

My 12 year old nephew wants to say a few words, but isn't very good with words. Does anybody know about any sites theat have speeches or poems for from a kid to his dad and stepmom?

Let me start off by saying that I'm a klutz, which is why I am concerned about this whole issue...

I really want to have some wedding pictures taken outside, but I'm debating on when to take them. The majority of the pictures (formals, etc) are going to be taken before the ceremony. I wanted to wait until after the ceremony to take the outdoor pics, but time constraints are making it look like that's not possible.

If I do take the outdoor ones before the wedding, how could I keep my dress white and decent looking? I'm afraid that I'll get it muddy or grass stained or something....

Any ideas on what to do?

I need help with two gift ideas:

1. Wedding for my brother. Long Island Wedding. I am the Best Man as well and my wife is a bridesmaid. How much should we give for a gift? Should we provide a supplemental gift as well such as a crystal or just the cash?

2. Engagement party for an acquaintance/friend. I've known the guy for about a year. Never been to a engagement party so any help is appreciated.

middle aged conservative man unmarried attending wedding in southern city at a baptist church - reception in the recreation area of a large park - I don't expect it to be very fancy. bride and groom in their late 20's and hip. trying not to stick out as the "old guy" and would prefer not to wear a suit. temp will be in low 70's but the two venues are polar opposite so I am a little unsure

My daughters wedding is next Saturday and 3 of my dearest friends are invited. One of these friends is going through a period of depression and is not herself at all.
Problem is she wont say if she will be able to attend saying it depends on how she feels on the day.
I dont think this is fair to my daughter and partener( they have paid for everthing themselves) as there are others they could invite instead.
I dont want to risk upsetting my friend by asking her for a yes or no.
What would you do ?

I thought i could have the reception at a relatives house but I am having trouble finding a venue for the ceremony. I dont want a registry office. I want somewhere cheap. I would love my dog there as he is part of the family now. Photographs are important to me so i would like somewhere that looks good inside aswell as out as you cannot be sure of good weather. I would prefer somewhere in Essex or Kent but am prepared to travel for the perfect venue. Somewhere cheap, picturesque and will allow my dog- Is this impossible?! Help!!!

I am getting married in july and i am stumped on what colors to choose. I really like greens and cream colors, and I am leaning towards bridesmaids dresses in peridot. I love natural colors and earth tones, but these dont seem like summer colors. Its a late evening wedding so I want a romantic feel with lots of cream colors. Do you think a green would go well this time of year? If so what shades would go well and links to pictures using color schemes would be helpful. Thanks!

When my ex and I were first engaged he used the stone from a wedding ring set he'd bought for a former girlfriend to have a necklace made for me for a wedding present. Over the years he also bought me jewelry with my birthstone in it. I never wear that stuff because I never have the occasion to and I hardly wear jewelry. Would it be bad to use those stones to make my new wedding and engagement rings? At least they would get used and it would cut the cost of the new rings.
