My fiance and I are looking to get married in Michigan. We live in Indiana, right over the boarder and want to find a small, beautiful place to get married that will not cost us an arm and a leg. We will have a total of 15 people, including ourselves, for the wedding. Any suggestions would be wonderful and greatly appreciated! Thanks! Diane

We are having a destination wedding in Jamaica (not MY decision..OUR decision). We sent letters out to our family members (who pretty much already knew). My fiance's grandma came over while we were at his parents house and went on and on about how we obviously didn't want her at the wedding because she is NOT going to that dirty disgusting place (we're going to an all-inclusive resort...). I sat there for quite awhile listening to her badmouth my wedding (as well as my engagement ring) and I finally stood up and said "If you want *****, go somewhere else. This is our wedding." She apparently called me a little brat and left (I had walked out of the room). She called my fiance's aunt (who I'm very close with) telling her she better watch out because I'll turn on her soon too, she has a bitter taste in her mouth about this that won't go away from a long time, blahblahblah....So, I emailed her that night (everyone said to just leave it alone and not even talk to her) apologizing for what

My boyfriend and I are going to the wedding of one of my work colleague's. I've known him for two years and we've hung out a few times outside of work. We're not super close, but I would consider him more than just an aquaintence. We want to give money and a card as a gift at the reception. How much is appropriate for my boyfriend and I to give them? Is $100 too much or too little? It's a big and expensive wedding. Does that make a difference?

Any help is much appreciated!

Hello everyone,

I want to go with a periwinkle and platimum (ie. grey) color scheme and I'm going to have about 5 bridesmaids. I'd like them to choose a 2 piece to their liking, maybe the top being periwinkle, the bottom being grey, or vice versa. I want them to have fun with it. My only guidelines are that they must be from David's Bridal, they must be these colors, and the bottom must be a long dress. I think it'd be more interesting and would make for some very creative and fun pictures. I DON'T want them to look so uniformed. This will be a semi-formal wedding with about 100-150 people, and I already put into consideration that they'll have to be in order correctly at church so there's color variation in the outfits they chose. I also thought about giving them each the colors I want them to wear on top and on the bottom, but letting them pick the top style (ie. sleeveless, spaghetti strap, etc). What do you all think?

I'm getting married next June, and my options of people to walk me down the aisle are dwindling. My dad died when I was 10, and in his place I was actually going to have my fiance's dad walk me down the aisle because we have become very close over the years. Sadly, my fiance's dad passed away in September. My mom has told me that because I'm so independent and have never been anyone's to "give away," I should just walk down the aisle alone. My last options are either having my mom walk me down, or my best friend, Steven. What do you think?

I am getting married in a small historical church so the asile is pretty small since the church was built in the 20s. I am thinking about walking just by myself and having my father stand at the end of the aisle. I think it looks better this way.... and plus my mother and father can both stand at the end of the aisle.
Facts-
1. I don't care about the typical "Tradition" and neither does my family since I am the first person having a formal wedding.
2. My dad and mother don't care- I think my father actually likes this idea better.

I am wondering- IF you were a guest at my wedding, would you even notice the difference or think it's strange?

I want to have a wedding with 200 ppl at my grandmothers, but am trying to keep costs as low as possible. I dont mind elbow grease, and i would rent the necessary equipment and hire servers the day of the wedding. But I dont know if it is actually possible to do this. If you make the food the night before, how do you reheat it? or how do you keep the food that isnt in chaffing dishes warm? Has anyone ever done this before? how do you organize it?

There's plenty of things to buy on the registry--but should we do that, or give them money or something else? We want it to be special, of course, but can't afford to spend a ton of money. They are in their early 20's. Any ideas?

My fiancé and I have been engaged for awhile, and we set the wedding date 6 months ago. One of my girl friend started to date one of our friends several months ago. They recently got engaged and they set their wedding date the weekend after mine. Is it just me or is it odd to set the wedding date the weekend after mine?

I am 16-years old and 8 weeks preg. I only just managed to get the courage to tell my guy (who I'm preg by), yesterday. As soon as I told him, he said, "Oh god, this is my fault." But he realized that he was going to be a daddy, and then came around to it. This morning, he proposed to me while we were waiting for the bus! It was kind of foggy, and he gave me this gorgeous ring. It was so romantic! I accepted him. I haven't told my parents yet, but my mom and dad got married at 16 and 17, so they should be okay with it. Should I have turned him down?

I would like a nice short ceremony, and then maybe hire a hall for close friends and family afterwards somewhere else. Other than a register office, is there anywhere else I can have the ceremony. Lots of large hotels do them, but they'll be expensive. Any ideas?
