My engagement ring is oddly shaped on the sides and I dont' think a regular band will sit nicely next to it. Does anyone know a place in Michigan (Downriver area) that could make one for me for a reasonable price?

I am sorry, one user asked if I was nutz or lazy... I am not sure in my question what would make me either?

Well, I don't know one in the Downriver area, but, in East Lansing there is a shop called The Jewelry Doctor. The people there are wonderful and they do great work. I have had several pieces made for my store there and have been more than happy with the results. They are in the Frandor Shopping Center.
If East Lansing is too far for you to travel, then I suggest that you call jewelry stores in your area, and ask if they have a gold smith on the premises. If you have a local store that you trust, then all the better.
There is a process for creating jewelry that you may want to look into called "lost wax casting" . This is a true art form, and not all gold smiths can do it. This is when a jeweler, working from an original drawing, carves a block of wax into a ring form. After you approve of the form, the ring is cast. This process destroys the wax and creates the ring. Because the wax is destroyed, the ring is unique and can not be duplicated. The least expensive wax that I have bought in recent years was $350.00, and that is for the wax alone. I paid for the gold and ring production separately.
There are many options out there, some more costly than others.Good Luck and congratulations on the engagement!

The good news is, you set your own budget for a custom-made ring. However, for a decent quality princess cut diamond alone, you're looking at $800-$1500. Factoring in the metal, plus time and materials, probably somewhere between $2000 and $3000. You will probably need to put down about half upfront. With so many diamonds already in the ring, you may not need to have as large a diamond in the center. This could be a chance to save some money. Focus on the other 3 C's. Cheers!

Just like everyone else said, any jewelry shop should be able to do it. I live in IN and my husband had my engagement ring custome made.
He went around to every jeweler and had then all order heart shaped pink shapphires and he picked the best one for my center stone (b/c I like diamonds but I'm not a huge fan and I looooove pink. ) Then he picked out the 6 side diamonds and the band from the same store and the store made the ring at no additional cost.
We used his parents rings durring our ceremony, but just plan on using the diamonds out of them, and the same place is going to take the diamonds out, and put them in a jacket for me, and a regular titanium band for him, at no charge.
Making an entire custom ring may be more, but any jeweler should be able to. The store we went to wasn't a mom and pop store, but you might have better luck with one in your state.
Hope that helps :)

Just get out a phonebook and start calling. Most jewerly can either make a custom ring or can fit yours. You band might be different but odds are if it was Not cutom made they will have a band that fits it- there a lots of bands with little curves in them to fit the engagement ring. And your not going to know until you start looking!

Im in Australia but any "reputable" jeweller will beable to make a wedding band to fit in with your engagement ring, you need to ask around and get some feed back from other people that are in the jewellery trade. :)

i dont know why people are so cruel to other people on answers....but it gets old. it is just as immature as road rage, in my opinion.

The best bet would be a mom and pop jewler.
If you take it to a chain jewler, they usually do not have jewlers to fix it.
I had one made, and it was by a mom and pop store. They can do just about everything!!

Good Luck
