My husband and I are having our first baby, this is also his mother’s first grandchild.

She is very excited about the baby, but doesn’t want to know if the baby is a girl or boy and wants to keep it a surprise for as long as possible.

We have known for weeks that we are having a baby girl.

My mother-in-law is kind of upset that we haven’t been giving her updates on the baby, but we are worried about slipping up and saying “she” and ruining the surprise. She is the only one in the family who wants to keep it a surprise so she doesn't hear any baby news.

Do you think this is silly? We want to respect her wishes, but it’s weird to us and I am starting to feel bad for avoiding baby stuff around her.

Heres the deal:
the other day my mom put an envelope of money into her file cabinet, i saw her, and the next day, she went to work and i stayed at home. i had to get $300 and so i took $300 out of the envelope and asked my mom if she could take me to buy something, my mom said that she was tired and if i gave her the money then she would buy it the next day during her lunch. so i gave my mom the money. the next day my mom came home and got mad at me and found out that i took her money. she told me that she cant trust me anymore. what can i do to get things back to normal. me and my mom used to be very close and now its awkward when we're together. any advise?

Hi Guys,
You have been so good helping me with my questions.
Now, here's another one....

You are in a community forum, say for a hobby that they want to become more popular. Yes, you are there for reason of discussing the subject, which everyone is talking about. But, from your background, you know some things that they never realized was related to the discussion that could help and they argue it does not have to do with the conversation.

I study alot, yet the other forum members just stick to what they know, so now I just sit and listen, saying nothing, which hurts.

How would you try to fit in yet still maintain your individuality?

My brother talks about hanging my guinea pigs and eating them and stuff and he seems to take pleasure in it. My guinea pigs are like one of the biggest highlights of my life. Sometmes I am suicidal but then I think, hey! I still have my piggies with me! I'm not sure if my brother means to kill them or not but I know he hates them (although I know he doesn't hate me) so I can't help but think he will. I don't know what to do because everyone says he won't do it and he is just teasing. But is talking about killing innocent (and cute) critters kiddish teasing, or is it sick minded and cruel? What should I do about this?
PS. I can't use violence. My mom would just KILL me!

Sometimes I really don't like my brother because he is like everything I DON'T like in a person. He is irresponsible, lazy, fat, annoying, babyish, and a geek! So then one second I am like hating him, and then the next second he is doing something really nice for me and sticking up for me and I feel so confused. I need help BAD!

This might sound silly........I have a friend who is the mother of a 5 year boy old who is going through a funny phase. Very simply, he has been trying to get her, and even her women friends sit on his lap! She thought this was funny for a while, but she is getting tired of telling him "no", and trying to explain why it will not work. Is this strange? Has anyone ever heard of this before? She is wondering how to help him to get over it. Any ideas?
I have asked about this here for her before. Several suggestions have been to just do it. Although that would probably satisfy his curiosity, she is a little nervous about it. Wouldn't that be dangerous?
I know this seems ridiculous.

my brother has mental disabilities (ADD is one of them) and he is extremely abusive. He'll be 19 in july and hes almost 300 pounds. im 14 and i am a little over 100... he punches me.. and hits me. my parents are making him move out soon but he keeps following me and screaming at me. the other day he almost broke my arm.my parents wont let me have friends over untill hes gone...when we argue i dis-engage myself from the situation but he follows me.. and i get extremely scared. how can i get away him or if you have any advice in general.. he wont listen.. so if any of you say that i should talk to him. we've tried. he wont listen to anyone anymore. the only we can do is wait untill an apartment opens up. so any advice? please?

my sister in-law moved in with my husband and i about a month ago. We live in a huge 1 bedroom apartment and she lives in our living room. I have my computer in my room and have a t.v. with my cable. I don't have a problem with her being her, but i want to make it look like theres only 2 of us here instead of three. She had to come and stay with us under special circumstances, she can't afford her own place because of her income. She can't work because of a medical problem. I have half of her items in my room, and the other in a closet in the dining room. She sleeps on my couch, and i feel as if she doesn't think we want her around. We have to have things this way because our lease says only 2 people, but if she can't stay with us, she will be homeless.We are working on getting a 2 bedroom apt, maybe getting one in the next 6 months. I am a neat freak and sometimes get upset over stupid things. Anyone have any suggestions about how i can make it more comfy for all 3 of us?

and I have a 3 year old daughter so we have been together for a year my daughter calls him daddy she never met her (father) and she probably never will, so for her to call him daddy is this ok oh and he seems as if he likes it

Basically she's a little witch. She's always using my sister and she lies about our family (my sis, mom and dad) to our other family members and they think we are rude for not letting her do what she wants with us. She hates me (which i dont care) b/c she knows she cant use me since i don't take crap from ppl. My biggest problem is that she thinks she's better than people and she's alwayss trying to tell my sis that she's dumb and I want to hurt her so much and probably will if she keeps judging us like that. I really need help from not hurting her b/c im fet up with it and i will damage her if i have to b/c i hate when ppl try to mess wit me and my family.

My husband and I need to get custody of our son from his biological mother. She doesn't beat him, or starve him; but she does neglect him, and doesn't take care of him as well as we do. CPS says they can't do anthing about it because "they've seen worse". So we're kind of on our own. Will we have to have an attorney to go through family courts in Texas?

hi, i'm 18 but i still live with my parents. i love my parents, but to me it seems like i'm their unwanted child. when they get mad at me for something they give me some REALLY stabing painful comments. these comment are like i as a parent would never want say this to my kid. i believe parents are supposed to help kids through a problem and help them have a better self concept. However, i am begininning to feel negative about myself since they started to give me these comments. they don't call me names or anything but things like "you r the reason we have all the sicknesses," "when we die u'll be happy that we died" or "u show urself as good person but u really are bad (evil) inside." they started telling me things like that since i made a big mistake and they lost trust over me. i have been doing exactly as they told me to becoz i realized my mistake, but i think they didn't see the honest part of me. am i going crazy to think like that or is it really something serious? wat do i do?

My 3 step kids, all teenagers, lost their mother suddenly the other day to a massive stroke at age 41. They were living with her full time, now they will live with me and their father. How can I help them deal with this loss and be a good step mom without replacing their mom? There are 2 boys, 18 & 15 and one girl, 14. I told them to bring pictures of her to hang in their new rooms at our home and promised to honor her. Anyone understand what they are going through?

My dad is lazy and abusive, my mom is hardworking yet deals with it all, my brother is turning into a toubled teen who is most likely going to be dealing with depression. He was born in Columbus, Ohio @ St. Ann's Hospital.
Catholic Charities handled the adoption.
I was just diagnosed with breast cancer and want / need to find him.

My son is 16 and has a serious "mouthing off" problem. His father went off on a buisness trip to New York for a couple of days, and my son and I didn't get along so well. He cussed at me, refused to do his homework, and went the the offica at school. I called my husband and toled him about his behavior and my husband said he would have a little talk with him when he got home. My husband was five minutes away when my son and I really got into it. He refused to give me back money he said that he needed to " borrow from my purse" I basically toled him flat out, if u don't give me that money there's going to be some problems. My son pushed me down. And, convient enough my husband walked in when he pushed me down. Steve ran over to him and grabbed his arm. H e hellped me up and then bent my son Riley, over the kitchen counter. Riley was screaming what the hell dad. My husband pulled off his belt and started swatting his butt atleast 20 times. My son has never been spanked before.

My ex-bestfriend was intrested in my new bestfriends so she tried hanging out with them.The first time she tried me and my friends wouldnt notice her.Then a second time...no luck.But then somehing happened....She just started hanging around and they actually had fun with her! Then for 5 months and to this day she still hangs out with them. You guys will obviously tell me ignore it etc. But that doesnt work! I tried for 5 months!
