My parents have basically given up on my brother and I'm expected to be better and stay home all the time. I should be able to do more. They say they're trying to protect me but it's getting pretty ridiculous and I feel stuck.

Do i really need a lawyer to file for petition to modify custody in the state of oregon? im from california?
i have the papers to file. is it possible that i could just file the paper myself if i have already all the supporting documents and written documentaries to support my case. I am going against a relative not the birthfather. He had surrendered his rights already and i wasn't able to attend to the hearing so the grandparent's were ruled on them by default. Just serious answers please no rude comments. Thank you.

here's my problem... my mom is struggling with money and i want to help. all i do is try to keep the house clean and watch my brother. she says i do enough but i want to do more. my dad doesn't live with us but we still see him every other weekend. now he's going to live in florida. please give me advice... What exactly is considerred domestic violence? Like I know about the hitting and stuff but my friend told me if someone takes your phones away and doesn't let you leave the house then it's considerred domestic violence, is that true? I've been having some problems with my stepdad :(. I'm 15 and I really wanna leave (not like runaway but just go to a friends house) but I know he wouldn't let me. My friend says I should call the cops but I'm scared to. Can someone please tell me some more about domestic violence? Please and thank you :)

Lately she's been under a lot of stress and screams at me. And recently she's been getting violent! Like today, she attacked me and threatened to stab me. As I was defending myself (no I didn't throw punches, just blocked and pushed her away) she tackled me and I couldn't get her off so I pushed her pressure point on her hip to get her off. That was when she said, "If you ever hurt me again, I swear I'll kill you!"

WTF?! I've been institutionalized twice already and I'm contemplating suicide... PLEASE HELP ME! :'(

Okay i will be 17 in like a little over a month and i still haven't gotten my permit. My parents said they would let me take drivers ed but never said when. But they say that they don't want me driving, even when im a senior. Their reason is that im not mature enough to get behind the wheel, but i make good grades...i don't drink, do drugs, sneak out or anything! I don't know what i can do to convinvce them but i really need to drive next year because i want to take college classes and ISM. Help me!

well i have a step mom n man we donot get along at all i mean i live in a hostel n rearly come home n still the woman wouldnt look at me .n when ever i leave the room she starts talking about me n when i confronted her with it she started talking about all that that had happened b4 .k i admit i m not perfect but its gotten real bad the female hates me n worse of all i have a week off n my dad wont let me stay in the hostel . he persists that i come back home i dont know how i'll deal with her help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a single mother of two little boys (4 and 2) in which I have sole custody. They have a very "lazy" father who never finds it convenient to see them. I live 45 min away from him and he only comes to see them about once every two months. I have been divorced for almost 3 years and I have met the love of my life and moved in with him. ONE PROBLEM!!! He is in the Air Force and with that his job takes him all over the country. Well if he ever gets sent to another base I of course want to go with him and by then we will be married. But I got a call from my ex today saying that he is doing some sort of petition through the courts and if its approved in 6 months then I will never be able to leave the state of Georgia. I have researched and I cant find this "petition." But the only way it will supposedly be void is if I am married before the 6 months are up. I would willingly marry my boyfriend but he thinks there is a way to get around this. If anyone has any advice please send it my way.

My father was deported back to Cuba when we were young. I was only in the 2nd grade. We haven't had contact with him since. I really want to find him he was the best father in the entire world. I have tried to find him through U.S. searches for people but he lives in Cuba. I miss him and love him soooo much. Can someone help me find him please? my mom says she loves me but is very nueoritc. SHe recently was carrying the laundry and yelled for my (who is on the second floor) to go pick hers up. I was doing the dishes and i sayd to "can we not yell, its 11'oclock at night and people are sleeping. Then she broke out calling me lazy a piece of $HIT like 30 times and nothing but a failure. EVerytime she says something like that to me she makes up for it the next day by telling me that she cant handle the stress of work and home and family, and that she loves me., and i forgive her. Everytime. Does she realy love me?

Hi and thank you for reading this. I am 13yrs old and have total trouble getting along with her i mean its her way man or no way. Anytime you ask her something she yells and screams. Then tonight i asked to be in a drama play and my friend can pick me up and i called my friend and she said i went against what she said and all this crap so now after she let me try out and i get a part i have to quit. This is very annoying. I have 2 other brothers and then me and thats all. I mean my dad tries and talks to her and she yells she doesn't talk. I really don't wanna be one of those girls no offense who get mad at their moms and go off and do drugs and get pregnate or i just don't want a bad relationship with my mom. I really love her but not all the time. It gets so bad i just feel like a i wanna die. SOMEONE HELP please!

Okay. My mom works for the FDA and makes about 90,000 dollars a year and my dad owns his own business and makes about 32,000 dollars a year. However, the FDA just announced major lab closings across the country, and my mom's lab is one of them meaning that she'll lose her job, and we, a family of 6, cannot live on my dad's salary alone.

Now, we could move, however, one of our major goals in life was to stay in the same town all our lives, so that's out of the question.

Also, we are having many other problems, such as we own a condo and it sucks about 2000 dollars away every month because it's winter and we can't get it rented.

So, my question: What do you think we should do? Do you want to rent our condo?

okay my husband recently found out he had a son and the mother has someone in her life and also has another child by this person. we have kinda been involved with the son a lil bit. the son is 5 years old and, and she is saying she doesnt want to tell the lil boy that my husband is the father till hes like 7 or so. i dont think this is a good idea and my husband isnt too happy about it either, he feels the longer the lil boy will think the other guys is his father. and she is trying to only let my husband see him 3 times a month, i dont think thats enough.

My daughter is 25 years old and has kids of her own. She has been married twice. The first time lasted for about a year and from what she says was pure Hell. She admitted to me later that he used to beat her. The second one she has been with for about 6 years and been married to him for 5 and I believe she's about to go back to the first one. The kids are confused and I feel defenseless, I know she's an adult and has the right to live her life as she sees fit, but the kids are suffering because of the confusion and I know that she will eventually suffer too. He has just gotten out of prison(which he was in for 3 years) for about a year and was in there for his involvement with drugs. She hasn't seen him in 6 years, how can she possibly think about going back to him. Myself and my family has spent alot of money helping her get away from him the first time, and I just don't know how she could do this to her kids and hurt me this way, when I have been her biggest supporter:(

Thanks for the responses but here is some additional information . My daughter is on the deans list every semester. She has lied to me in the past about where she has been or going. She says she is so stressed out from college and all the studying.
