Stay away from strangers is the mantra today. Sex offenders are everywhere, We teach children not to talk to strangers. Each time I see little ones screming in protest to get on Santa's lap, There is a mother forcing the child to do so. Are we sending a mixed message to children and should Santas in the mall, the grocery store and on corners be banned? Even before there werre so many exploited children, I always thought this was a crazy thing for parents to do. Again, only in America.

I am a grown woman, have done well in life, however like anyone made mistakes. I am too nice to tell my family to piss off when it comes to their unwanted opinions on what is going on with my life and what they think I should do. How do I tell them (or not) that I don't want to hear what they have to say - going home for Christmas and I know I'm going to hear tons of unwanted advice.

I have been married for 3 years and with my husband for 14. We have two children. In the last 9 months are fights have esculated to the point where my daughter wakes up crying. Recently he sent me to the hospital with a mild concussion, he spits at me, insults and puts me down making me feel like I'm worth nothing. Why do I stay? I still love him and know that something has changed him. Please tell me why I keep myself here hurting and crying?

My mother in law is totally dependent on her children. My husband is the middle child out of 3. His older sister is 51, and younger sister is 35. My mother in law lives in a small house on the "hood" side of town. She is also a chain smoker. She has chained smoked for 40 something years. Her home is nasty, because of the chain smoke of over 40 years and also her dog pees everywhere in the house - was never trained to pee outside. No one likes to stay at her house, it's not sanitary at all.
My mother in law can no longer see. She is beyond legally blind. She takes 50 diff medications, has one of those oxygen machines, and now, developed severe cataracts and is almost blind.
She has to have someone stay with her at her house during the night because she is scared at night to stay by herself. We can't do this. So my question is: Should we put her in a nursing home or continue to be inconveinenced? And believe me, she doesn't care if we are inconveinenced anyways.

I just found out my sister in law is hosting christmas eve. At thansgiving, her and my brother in law strutted right by me (when they arrived at my inlaws) without even acknowleging me. My sister in law also "helped out in the kitchen" without washing her hands! It was easy to avoid the items she touched that day, but she's making the whole meal! Aside from boycotting the event, what should I do?

There's this girl who is 14 and wants to come and live with me and my family. She is miserable at home and just wants to live with us. Her mum will obviously say "no", but is there a way to have her anyway. My mum said she should be able to, and something about child services. Please help, and give facts, not opinions. I'm in Australia by the way. Thanx

My mother-in-law has had Alzheimers for about 7 years and she is now very ill and we don't expect her to make it through the night. My husand asked me to write a eulogy. So I wrote one that I thought was great, but apparently not! They are not a touchy feely family, they are always there for each other but there is no "I love yous" or tactile emotions.
So after my first attempt which my husband hated, he has suggested that I write one from our kids. I have a 17 year old step daughter who "nanna" doted on. And 4 and 6 year old boys who have never known nanna completely well. So i wrote a Eulogy using the letters "why we love you nannna". For EG When you took us too feed the ducks. But I hate it. Surely she deserves more. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have been asked to take my girls on an expenses paid flight to HK. However i am worried that the flight will be too long for them and they will cause chaos on the plane. Does anybody have any experinces or ideas. I am willing to turn down the offer if my girls don't benefit as they have never been on a plane before. Serious answers only please.
