Stay away from strangers is the mantra today. Sex offenders are everywhere, We teach children not to talk to strangers. Each time I see little ones screming in protest to get on Santa's lap, There is a mother forcing the child to do so. Are we sending a mixed message to children and should Santas in the mall, the grocery store and on corners be banned? Even before there werre so many exploited children, I always thought this was a crazy thing for parents to do. Again, only in America.

I think this past time activity is slowly coming to an end as it's realised that people with unclean minds are out there.

Here is hoping that it quickly comes to an end. On that topic, i do not think it is allowed for kids to sit on santas lap anymore.

I think that a child knows the difference between Santa and a stranger!! I mean the man has a suit on!!! He has many people all around him at that. The reason that SOME kids do scream when they get close to him is they are afraid of him as they don't see him but during that time of year. So go right ahead and take that away from the kids too. And while your at it, take the Easter Bunny away from them too. Just go ahead and take their child hood away from them.

If the parents would do their job in the first place there wouldn't be so many kids in trouble in the first place. A child can be taught the difference in Santa and a strange!! How many times have you been driving down a street any where and see kids out playing by their selves (with other kids) and NOT A PARENT IN SIGHT!!! So come now and get with the program, let them have a childhood. Parents you do your job and your kids can still have fun and be safe. If they want to set on Santa's lap, let them. Not every body out there is a sex offender! Your kids are going to grow up fast anyway, let them have FUN!!!

I don't think they should take away the sitting on Santa's lap completely, not unless he's done something inappropriate. If you child is screaming and cry don't force him/her to sit on the fat mans lap.
But if a kid doesn't mind it, then why not do it. To all kids in the world who believe in Santa he is not a stranger to them.
Plus I know one Santa in the mall was my Bro's cub scouts leader, so we knew him.

Actually mall santas are the safest ones. Do you honestly think someone would hire a registered sex offender to be a santa? There are things such as criminal history, and I do believe the hiring party does a check. If they don't then don't ban santa, just process him first.
