I know I am starting early but since my fiancee and I have moved into our own place, my mother-in-law has been more than valuable. Between my fiancee and I, we work 6 jobs. When I am home she will come over and help me to dishes, laundry, and generally clean up. I want to get her something really nice for Christmas but I don't know what to get her. She never really takes time for herself but I'm not sure if she'd be comfortable going to a spa. Other than that she is very devoted to her family so I don't know what to get her. Please Help

Now that dad is gone I am basicall in charge of my sister. She is living with mom right now but I live in the area about 10 minutes away driving. Anyways, she really likes this guy at church who seems like a pretty nice guy. He's got together with us a few times for dinner and he's always been polite, however, sometimes you never know about these guys because they can put on a show. Do you think I should hang out with this guy a few times by myself to see what kind of guy he is like or just let them go ahead and court? Mom seems to like him.

I can not stand my mother-in-law! She is the worst person to get along with. She is very manipulative and rude, and she is mad at me for marrying her son! She never pays attention to anything that I am doing and she pretends that me and my family don't exist.

Should you always put your children first? I am a widower with a young child who had become closely involved with someone. She always insisted that the parents should put each other first before the children and believed it should be a given for our relationship should we ever live together or get married. It was something that I always struggled with and tend to believe that it is the parents' relationship that is most important, thereby making the children most important by providing a stable, happy family foundation. However, I think back to how things were with my late wife and mother of our child, and I think I would have always put her first.

My grandma is almost 80 years old. Everyone takes advantage of her. Especially my cousin. He uses her a lot. He'll bug her to get money so he can go buy drugs. She just gives it to him. The whole family is too blind to see all this is going on. Some of them see it's a problem, but either they're too lazy or stupid to do anything about it or they're too scared of him. Everytime they call the police he gets away before they can find him. He's hit my grandma before and he pushed her down really hard on the floor about a day ago. I have no idea if there is anything I could possibly do, I'm just in high school. It's possible that he will kill her and I hate seeing her be so blind to this. I never get to spend any time with her anymore with all this going on. She may have to move in with us sometime. I just wanna know what it is I could do or even better, if there's anyway I could convince her and my parents to have her move in w/ us. thanks!

I feel like im pushed away. Everytime I try to say somthing about how I feel to my mom she makes it into somthing else. Whenever I get to tell her somthing and tell her not to tell I hear her telling all her friends. I feel like I have nowone to talk to and my mom's boyfriend is a controlling man. What can I do? I want to be somewhere I can talk to somone and not have everyone talking about it. Im sad and my mom is telling me not to tell about what happens in our house. She seems to expect me to hold it inside. I want to be with somone I trust but I can't find anyone. All I have are my friends that don't say anything about my problems to others. Any ideas on what I can do?

I have a wonderful beautiful stepdaughter whom I love very much and am very close to although more like her friend then a parent, she is into drinking and boys very heavily and plans to move out of her mothers home at 16, my husband is a rotten dad to her, he pretty much ignores her existence and we fight about it lots, her mother chases men around and drinks and buys her booze, how can I help this child become the wonderful woman I know she will be? I have fought with her about it but she just stops talking to me and I don't want that, my husband will never wake up about it, any suggestions?

I have been with my boyfriend for 9 months, he has been an excellent father to my son. Up until a month ago we had never had an arguement. We argued over his mother and money going to her) After that nothing has been the same. We had a small argurment about 2 weeks ago over the same thing. 2 days ago he said he has been thinking about breaking up with me for a whole week and he iddnt know how to tell me. So the next day he moved o his mothers house and now he wants to star the relationship all over again. Things to take into consideration: He is really stressed out about not being able to study with my son (he has a big training coming up on monday for days) he has told me he doenst want any responsibilities right now. So right now im really hurting because I just feel worthless, He has been the most wonderful man Ive ever had, respectful, good father... all up until now, i told i would start over again becasue he has been good but this hurts!!!

I want to train in Mixed Martial Arts at a local brazilian jiu-jitsu place. Luckily, its only about 3 blocks away. How do I tell my parents I want to take something that involves fighting? It's not a money issue it's just that I don't want my parents to think I'm some type of crazy obsessed kid with fighting. I mean I've always liked fighting throughout my life even when I was a little kid and they know that. They laugh because my grandpa loves doing that stuff too but how do I tell them? My parents are usually pretty relaxed about things but I want a non-awkward way to tell them. Thank you for any suggestions!

My dad sometimes looks over my homework. He tells me if he thinks something is wrong and I do it over again. He doesn't give me the answers, though.

My dad and I have never had a great relationship. He's actually been verbally abusive as well as emotionally. He tried to push me into sports as a kid when I'm not all that athletic. I was in band and worked very hard to get first chair to impress him. He came to my concert and left early to go to his step son's ball game. When I was 11, he told me I was fat and I would die if I didn't lose weight. I've tried to make ammends with him. I've been trying to build some kind of relationship with him now that I'm an adult. But he never calls me and passes by my house atleast 3 times a day coming to and from work and on his lunch hour. It hurts me so bad that he'd rather spend time with his step kids than his own daughter. Should I give up and accept the fact he wants nothing to do with me or keep trying? I can't take much more rejection.
