i know you only ever have one mother but my mom has never been there for me throughout my life (i'm 34 now). She left my dad when i was 11 for another man, taking my siblings and me with her. after 3 months, we were sent back to my dad and she moved in with this guy. to me, i saw it that she had to chose between he b/f or us and chose him! She has continued to put her partners before her children ever since. One example, my sister found it unbearable at home, sought refuge with my mom but she wouldnt upset her relationship and placed her with strangers!
i walked out on my husband and kids last year cos he was violent towards me but not the kids. my mom was the only one i confided in about the violence yet 2 weeks after i left, she visited him and i know it wasnt to see the kids cos she never had anything to do with them before! my dad has been there for me, i havent spoken to my mom for 20 months and feel i'd be betraying my dad by getting in touch with her again

Go ahead and call me heartless if you like. I've been called worse and have always gotten over it.

Okay, first of all, I'll be 17 in exactly two months. When I turned 16, my parents made me wait 2 months to get my driver's permit. I got winter experience and all that, and I asked my mom if I can schedule my road test, and she said no, and that she wanted me to get "more winter experience". First of all, I HAVE winter experience and I just want my darn license. I even completed a driver's education course last spring. I'm sick of waiting for something that I actually want a lot. I don't ask for much. In fact, they hardly make the time for me to go driving anymore.

Why do my parents have to be like this? It's just no fair at all, and I really mean that. I mean, people younger than me have had their licenses for MONTHS. I just want more freedom and I want to be happy about something for once.

I'm grateful for any answers to this question.

My son told me last night he hates me and he aways has the only reason why he was nice to me latley was so he could get his driver's licence. I have never done anything to the boy what so ever he blames me that his dad won't let him use our family car as well. But its not up to me its up to his dad. how do I recover from this. At first I thought that he was just upset but this morning he said mum remember mum I hate you so leave me alone and never talk to me again. I love this kid but why is it me that he is blaming for his dad not letting him drive our car for. Please some advice on this how I can get over this feeling I have knowing my son hates me.

In the past I have been having problems with family members that have been really nasty to me. And the only way I could retaliate was to be just like them and fight back. But for the first time in my life I instead of getting angry and fighting back, did two things the person in question was shouting at me and pointing his fingers, so I went to walk away, then he stood near the door so I could'nt pass so I asked to pass him thenI walked out through the other door. When I came back in the room he was gone. Then he came back again and starting shouting again this time I said to him you can't hurt me anymore, you can't anoy me any more. All your looking for is a reaction. He then calmed down and walked away. So you see, a calm approach is the best approach thanx guys for teaching me this and I will keep this up for ever? thank you. And as the saying goes what goes around comes around he will soon get his cumupance.

I'm concerned about my friend..he's dating this girl who believes everything should be 50/50. She doesn't believe the man is in charge and she doesn't want to take his last name. This sounds like it is headed for disaster. What do you all think I should do?

My sister, who is five years younger than me, just came home from school crying because she doesnt have any friends. She says they all turned against her, and ignore her like she doesn't exist (I'm using different words than she would because she's only in 2nd grade.) She's now filled with self-loathing that has turned her into a non-stop crying freak! She likes her friends and even made a new one the other day, one that had the same name as her, and they all turned against her. I've told her everything I could think of but she won't listen. Do you have any suggestions? (Remember, she's only 7!)

By the way, if any of you try to give me shhit to tell her or say something mean, I swear I'll f*cking rip you apart! Tha tmeans don't say anything like, oh she's just a brat... you know, shhit like that.

And one last thing, she's really smart, pretty for her age, and she's polite, nice and very caring about everyone and anyone around her. So help a sister out!
