Many years ago I was getting married. I asked my step dad to give me away because he had been more a part of raising me than my biological father. When I told my father that I had made the decision to have my step dad give me away, my dad disowned me. He and his mother (my grandma) refused to come to the wedding. I sent birthday, fathers day, christmas, etc. cards for an entire year to my dad with no response back. After a year I gave up. Since then, I've been divorced and remarried, my husband has never met my dad or grandma (we've been together 5 years now).
I've recently gotten news that my grandma is very ill. I haven't spoken to her in well over 7 years...is now the time to?
Everyone always tells me that I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life if dad or grandma dies before we resolve our differences, but I don't think I'm the one needing resolution. I don't regret the decision I made...
What do you think?

My brother says she has always been a night owl, but my neice is staying with me for part of her summer vacation and I'm worried about how tired she is. She goes to bed and then I find out that she was up half the night reading because she "can't sleep". Then she sleep in during the day and is cranky when she does get up. Is there any kind of safe, natural sleep aid I could give her to help her fall asleep? She's almost as tall as I am and weighs about 5-10 lbs more than I do (so she's almost adult sized). Her parents told me that they give her benadryl sometimes, but I am not comfortable with that. :(

My cousin, who is oging into 6th grade, just found out her grandmother is in the hospital from kidney failure, or an absess on the pancreas or something etc. There is nothing the doctors can do. The doctors say she is too fragile to move to ICU. Both my cousin and her brother are at camp, and she is near hysteria, in tears and everything. I have sent her an e-mail saying how much I love her and how I'm praying for her, but I want to do something more. How can I console her?

My husband is 32 years old and he has never lived away from his family. He attended a college that was 30 minutes away from home. We live about 40 minutes away from his family. I have not hang ups about moving. The cost of housing is cheaper in GA compared to where we live now. I am frustrated in trying to convince him that this would be a great move for our family.

If God gave you the chance before you died to pass down four things to your children what would they be? And I dont mean material things like money or things you owned.

Don't get me wrong I don't mean beat them to a bloody pulp, cause bruises, or even make them bleed. I mean like a tap on the back of the head. In my opinion ever since 12 year olds started suing their parents because they spanked them is the same time kids started going out and robbing gas stations and dealing drugs.

My mother-in-law buys gifts for us from her adult children without them knowing. Just puts their names on it. They are both able to afford to buy gifts themselves. They never purchase gifts themselves.

My sister married a drunk and had kids, then divorced him and married another drunk, but everyone in the family says he is a little better than her first husband because he will work a little and do a little more things for the kids than their father. My other sister has a 12 year old niece. She let the 12 year old niece spend the night with my other sister, because she has a 10 year old. Well, the drunk got drunk that night. They said he passed out in a car, and someone woke him up. He went inside where the girls were. They were in the living room. The 12 year old was swaying back and forth in the desk chair. He went over to her, strattled her and hopped up and down on top of her and said something like "Is this how it's done". My family says he was drunk and mad. Making excuses for him. I will not have nothing to do with him, but the rest of the family does, but I am left out of the family because of this. They chose him over me. This is not all that he has done. Is this wrong of me

his parents keep blaming me for petty things and my peace of mind is lost.

And her parents didn't care even though it ruined their son's life? How do you confront her and tell her that it ruined your life as well with out her getting upset? I don't want her to hate me forever.
