My 'best' friend who i love to bits has previously been through threatened suicide kind of depression she early 30s and says she doesnt expect to make it to her 40th 'because lifes to hard'.
I would usually and have previously when asked dropped what i was doing and gone to meet her when she has wanted to meet because she's having a bad day. Thing is I've had a really bad 3wks i can't complain to her because of her problems (and shes not a great listener), every wk she has something wrong i didnt want to hear about it today, when she text me asking me to meet her i lied and said i was cooking lunch. I would've had to change clothes, i had unwashed hair... Is it really bad that as a bestfriend i lied because i didnt want to hear about her problems AGAIN when i've got my own stuff to deal with even though thats what friends should do?

I met this chick in my college astronomy class and since i didn't speak up when we were looking for lab partners( i looked at her and assumed if she liked me she would do the same) and now not sure of how to start talking to her w/o being to obvious.
I'm gonna see her monday and I was thinking of asking her if she got today's notes, but how do i take it from there?

I am guessing if there is any chemistry, it will bloom from there..but anyone know if this might work or any other ideas?

I have been brought up (brainwashed?) by society and the media to believe girls don't like sex that much, or something similar. This may seem a bit sexist, but based on my experience y'all are hiding it, for chastity, or to look like a lady still, or to not b called insulting names.

When I was involved, I've seen my girl go no more than a week or two w/o it, but that doesn't count.

How long can you honestly last without physical intimacy (sex)? No bull.

Right, so I have been seeing ths guy for about 2 months now (although not seen him for 3 weeks as busy working away - have been in contact though - he knows I like him & I think he does too). He has really bugged me though as he offered to come "round" (my instinct says just for sex) the other eve but i could not as plans - so i suggested this evening - which is in about 5 hours time... now this dude has not even got back to me. Several years ago(1974 or75) my Aunt had a little boy. He was placed in foster care because she was an alcoholic and neglected him. I met him only once. My Mom told me this that my aunt refused to allow him to be adopted and he possibly was bounced from foster home to foster home.

I think about him every once in awhile, I guess I want to know if he's okay etc. The other thing is that he may not be my cousin but my half-brother. I learned some info the other day from a family member that my "aunt" may actually be my biological Mother and my "Mom" is my actually my aunt.

If the above is true I don't think that my Mom would ever tell me.

He is german and proposed at christmas and gave me a plain silver band. It looks like a wedding ring and people keep giving me funny looks when they ask to look at my engagement ring. I would love for him to get me a proper one but how do I ask him. I love that he got me a ring anyway am just fed up with it looking like a wedding ring and not a traditional engagement ring. I don't care if it costs very little - I have simple tastes but I am a traditionalist and want people to notice that I'm engaged. Im extremely close to my older brother who's 19, and I lookup to him because he always gives really good advice. But for the last few months when I've been getting more involved with these guys I know, I cant seem to go to my brother anymore. He has this habit of telling what I say, to my parents, who are overprotective. I want to ask his advice but now its like I have 3 parents, because he always sides with them. I want to tell him everything thats been going on with me lately, but Im afraid that he'll go running straight to my parents who will freak out ever though I havent done anything. (you know how parents can be) So what should I do? Take a chance and ask my brother for advice? Or keep it to myself, and not tell him anything anymore??

My ex broke up with me relatively suddenly just less than two months ago. The split was amicable, I respected his choice, although I disagreed and didn't understand it.
We still speak every day, meet up to watch films and have dinner. The last time we met up we dozed off for an hour in each other's arms - although this could've been subconscious comfort.
After waking, I dropped him off at the pub where he was watching a footy match and he kissed me goodbye. Do I put this down to him being half-asleep?
He has openly told me that I made his life better, and that he still cares for me. I love him and am in love with him. I won't push him into anything, and I am living my life - but I still want to do more with him. There is still more to life that I want to share with him.
I'm in a quandry. If I push, I may push him away. If I stay back, he may see it as indifference and move on.
Where do I/we go from here?

Listening to acquaintances and friends talk and talk about how great their boyfriends and girlfriends are gets boring and old fast. Like you may have lunch, say a guy and gal and the other person spends your whole time together doing nothing but going on and on about how great Tom or Sue is, what plans for the weekend, what movies they saw, etc. It almost seems like the other person wants to convince you they have a life and they have to make sure you are aware of it so you can be impressed. It appears also that the person doing the talking may have low self esteem and needs to be uplifted. I think it is a bit rude to continually talk about the other person's relationship and perhaps is a better discussion with a therapist. Anyone else share this view?
