Family & Relationships - 19 November 2006

My father is extremely smart, talented, hard working, good looking, very propper and polite, and I look up to him in so many ways. However, I struggle on a daily basis with the idea that my family and I just go through the motions of coming home from school/work, eat dinner together (usually), and then go our separatae ways, and yet we (myself and my mom) can't address the fact that his drinking affects our relationship with him.

Now by no means am seeking sympathy or searching for statements of how "things could be worse", I am just looking for ideas or expereinces about how you can tell a loved one that when he comes home everyday form work and drinks until he can't remember what we talked about the next morning, IT IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING and it is harmful to our relationship.

Has anyone experienced this dilema? Have any good advice??

he says he loves me but how am i subpose to feel loved? i really need him and he won't take the time. a few years ago i wanted this big house. he said i want a divorce. he wasn't gonna give up any of his many hobbies just to live in a bigger house...we got the much needed bigger house (our kitchen was so small we couldn't eat together as a family of 5). We've been together for 17yrs. and for once i just want to feel like the most important part of his life is that to much to ask?

I have known this guy since 9th grade. We liked each other he asked me out and I said no. Later on we meet on myspace as friends. As time goes by he starts to tell me he likes me, and he wants me to come down to Cali to see if theirs something there. That happened in Sept. Now I have this dream about him and now I like him...ALOT!! But he started talking to his ex girlfriend and I believe he got her pregnant. He always said she was a ***** but in reailty he was going to her. I dont know what to do. His ex or whatever always bashed me because she knows we had a past. If he liked me why wouldnt he stick up for me? What should I do? Should I tell him how I feel? When I get to Cali should I see him? HELP!

I am 19 and he is 28. He told me that we were "broke up" and now he says he's considering moving me in. However, I am not allowed to be there on the days that he has his daughter. I live in Longmont, and he lives in Glenwood Springs. It's a long distance. I will always be worried that he will drop me off and then not pick me up again. I don't know what to think. I love this man so much, but I don't need to be let down by him again. If we're broke up, then why would I move in? If I move in, it will be serious, and he doesn't want me to be around his daughter, mostly because of the ex wifes influence. He tells me he wants to get married and have kids someday, that he's angry because his ex "ruined our relationship," yet he wanted to break up with me only a couple weeks ago. I need some advice. Is it worth it to try again with this guy I'm in love with? Or should I tell him that we need to wait until he earns his trust? Should I talk to him and find out if he wants to be serious? Or not?

It just seems you meet at parties, or meet through friends, converse if things go good you hookup. And if you hookup more than once you go through this awkward stage of deciding if you're an item.

About 2 months ago I met this guy at church and each week he would think of ways to talk to me. I thought he was cute but i didnt think anything of it. finally I told him my name and so did he. the next week I saw him at a church social and he started talking to me and asked if he can walk me to the car. He did. After that it has been 3 weeks since we have been some wat seeing each other. we have not had sex yet but every time were with each other we cant keep our hands of each other. Oh man am I nervous just typing about this right now. Well I'm a senior now, the girl I like is a sophomore. She's given me alot of signals we talk a little right now but that's because we're both kinda shy and nervous. Well she and her best friend want to go to the winter formal together as a fun thing. Her best friend is a girl btw. But yea. Well... She told me she's going with her friend probably so I'd go too, but she also told me it that way so I wouldn't ask her since she doesn't want her best friend to feel left out.

I'm planning on going as well but just with a couple friends "no date" I was going to ask her out to the formal but I don't want to ruin her fun or her friends. Plus if I do ask her out she'll kinda leave her friend hanging and that will make a hard decision on her to make.

So I plan to go alone and slip in my slow dance with her when I think the time is right. Question is... How do I ask her? And... when the slow dance is over what do I say and do...

i seem to get really sad all the time...went to see a conceller a while ago and she said that i am not depressed or anything because ppl who are depressed are really just angry and turn the anger inwards...i dont think im angry about anything or at myself...so why do i keep feeling sad? i think its a mixture of stresses from school, work, friends, family, boys, body image...just everything i guess...i just cant stop feeling sad and that just makes me even sadder...my mum is always asking me if im depressed and i always tell her that im fine...i just dont really know what to do :-(

I gave birth to a daughter one year ago. She was a premie and things have been very difficult. For the sake of our unborn daughter, we had to stop having sex during pregnancy and never really have attempted since (maybe once). I am not really happy as I was before...my husband always second guesses me and never takes my opinion into consideration. With the birth of my premature daughter, he has continuously challenged any of the information relayed to me by trained doctors and seems willing to take chances with my daughter's health (i.e., bring her into crowded places)....She is a premie, so we have been told to keep her out of public places. Anyway, has anyone stayed in a marriage without sex. If so, for how long and why?

Me and my cousin both 18, her friend was 22 so she supplied us with our continuous flow of booze for the evening.


This problem happened to me the other night. We we're hanging out Thursday night and went to watch Borat, we were all having a good time.

Anyways me and this girl are really hitting it off, completely ignoring my cousin in the wake, I really felt bad about this. To top things off, the girl(who was driving us) really insisted on taking my cousin home first, which really made it obvious about what was going to take place soon...

Anyways we head back to my house and after we were done she had to leave and told be her husband would get suspicious.

I think back at this now, and feel really bad that I don't even recall her name, It started with an A I think? Is it bad to hookup with your cousin's friends and not even get the name?


Disclaimer: About the husband bit, is really no big deal, it doesn't bother me because everyone cheats nowadays and i don't get bent up about it

Two months ago, I met a girl at the mall I work at(we both work at diffent stores). I found out, shortly thereafter, that we are actually neighbors in the same apartment building. We spend time with each other everyday, whether it be a few minutes at each others respective work, having a cup of coffee, going out to dinner or making dinner for each other, or just watching movies and talking until 3am. I drove 4 hours with her to her parents house, and we only spent about 2 hours there, the rest of the time she showed me her hometown. I know that I like her, I just dont know how to say it. When I first started talking to her, she said that she didnt have a boyfriend, but was kinda seeing someone, but now reluctantly calls him a boyfriend, although she keeps saying that she doesnt see him as a long term boyfriend. I want to tell her how i feel, but I afraid to because I really enjoy her friendship. What should I say to her and how do I know if she harbors similar feelings for me?
