After 5 months your friend should know her well enough to be able to decide for himself. tell "your friend" to use his imagination, and get something that means something to her. Something personal. DO NOT get any of the following - flowers, chocolates, underwear (unless you are going to agent provocateur), perfumes, bath salts or the tat that is proffered in tesco, Boots and BHS etc. Use the imagination, and some of the things your friend has surely learnt in the last 5 months and he can't go far wrong.
