my ex hates me 4 somethin i didnt do. she says i was havin sex with other girls and seein other girls. please help with an arguement i am having with a mate. if you flirt with someone on-line (and its unlikely that you will meet them in real life) is it still cheating?

I've been dating a guy for a short while and things seemed to be going great, we saw each other almost everyday at least 5 times a week, spoke the other days, we spent the night together almost everytime we saw each other, went out had fun, stayed in had fun - just a good place.
Then this weekend he made a comment to a mutual friend of ours that he and I weren't 'dating', this through me off, i talked to him about it and he said that we are just at the moment he paniced..
He's freaked out around 'relationships' because of his ex.
So anyways we had a normal night after that except I didn't stay over because he had to get up early, then again yesterday I see him and he specifically makes referance to me not staying even though there was no reason for me not to, then later that night when i was home i said i would have liked to be there and all he can say is pretty much 'i see'.
I'm afraid he may be pulling away because i told him he's more than just a friend to me...though he agreed.
