Recycling, is less energy efficient then reuse, e.g. collection and reprocessing, while over recent years, packaging has increased, much of which, for many reasons is not recyclable.

David Miliband, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has claimed there is no conclusive evidence that organic food is better than products grown conventionally.

Liz Lawrence, from the website faceofflowers.com, which specialises in organic produce said: "Organic produce is the only legally guaranteed food that you know what you're getting, you know there's no chemicals in there. "To sell organic produce you have to be registered and you're inspected very thoroughly." Robin Maynard, Campaigns Director for the Soil Association "It has been shown over the years that there is a difference between food produced organically and that produced using industrial methods." Mr Maynard said that research had shown higher levels of Vitamin C in organic produce, and recent research into organic milk had proved it contained higher levels of Omega 3.
Organics also have less nasty addatives.

Perhaps there are more taxes to be collected from non-organics.
Research need funding.

I have been building burners for veggie oil on and off for about a year just to see what I can do with it.

I can tell you that they seem to burn very clean and hot.
Hot enough if you want to melt stainless steel with air injection.

I have not done an actual chemical analysis of the exhaust, but visual and smell wise looks good.
Combustion can be adjusted for output and mixture.

I am quite sure it can be adapted to anything that needs heat around the home.

Some projects included: an air heater, water heater and a grill, also I made a VERY simple hot water pump. This pump puts out about 1.5 quarts of boiling water every 30 seconds.

I also could adapt it to a clothes dryer.

I feel like I can eliminate every high wattage device used in my home.

I would think burning used veggie oil has to be better than burning coal or petroleum.

Am I on the right path? Ideas?

one project is at youtube. search for high temperature furnace. title my volcano.

A 4 or 5 degree centigrade rise in temperature in the Permian Era unleashed most of the methane on Earth, killing off most life forms. Many scientists think this could happen again this century. Why are college students not demonstrating, holding rallies and marches? Governments listen when the multitudes talk loudly.

This is the debate in Congress right now. Scientists of the world have united and overwhelmingly stated that they are 90% certain that human activity is contributing to global warming and if we don't act NOW, we will suffer catastrophic consequences.

I would say that the industries who have profitted, and I mean PROFITTED from the emission of green house gases should be the first ones tapped to start paying for the clean up! For example, Exxon Mobile just recorded the largest single quarter profit ever recorded by any company in the history of the world, last quarter. And that profit came directly from OUR wallets. So if they are asked to pay, essentially, everyone is paying...

All the crap we dump in landfills all over the planet is poluting the environment in one way of another. And this stuff can be processed at a very low cost into raw material if you think about it. So, the only rational I see for using landfills at all is no one thinks about the costs involved. Lets do a study and see how much can be gained by processing trash into raw material. Just the hydrocarbons that can be removed by processing are worth billions of euros or dollars. And the rest can be processed into raw material worth millions so why use the poluting landfill?
