ok, so we are trying to phase out the old fashioned regular light bulb because they use so much energy.

the flourescent energy savings bulbs have mercury in them.

i see a dilemma

yeah I think they do have mercury in them - just don't break them and dispose of them through appropriate means (should be a hazardous waste place that will take them)

they last a long time, but the light isn't as great as incandescant. I use them in utility/outdoor lighting areas and use incandescents on my desk/lamps/kitchen where I want quality light.

I just bought the fluro screw into standard base bulbs
(90 watts that use 23 watts) and I do not see any mercury disposal warnings . . .
These bulbs do have a 9 year warranty life tho, so there would be a radical reduction in bulb count used , and mercury items should be recyclable for recovery of the mercury.
