For instance, in a million years:
we will all be vegetarians
there will be no pollution/excessive global warming
we will finally achieve world peace
we will be able to travel into the farthest reaches of space
we will have found cures for cancer, a solution to aids, and poverty all over the world

I am absolutely positive that this question has been asked before. I would appreciate answers, just the same, though. Please tell me what I can do to help stop Global Warming. I live in the Mojave desert, we don't have recycle bins out here, and it gets hot at day, cold at night. I hope these are the only specifications you need. Thank you for your consideration. Every little bit helps, big and small.

I would like to learn about products that have these microbes in them as well if they actually do help or if proven to be beneficial. I'm just hearing so much hype around my town about this that I thought i should ask someone out side the community. I think of worm castings and stuff, but there talking about liquid fertilizers, likes their pure bacteria in there. Anyways hopefully you can clear things up with me and I learn a thing or two. Bye From some guy out in cyber world.

If you believe the news reports, it is 90% proven that global warming is man made. However, none of these articles provide any of the evidence. How do they know what sun spots don't contribute to global warming? How do they know that the heat from cities doesn't affect the temperature readings, ect? How come the green house gasses from man are worse than those from forest fires and volcanoes? How come the USA is always blamed when China, Mexico and others produce much more pollution as a percentage of GDP? What about the ozone hole that was supposed to be so bad that it couldn't be reversed, isn't this the same sort of thing? Isn't global warming better than global cooling? All I hear is that USA has caused Global warming and we are the worst people on the planet. It all comes from those with a lot go gain from more regulations like smog check 2 and MTBE (cure worse than cause). How come those scientists who don't believe in man made global warming are not allowed to speak?

Considering the fact that ocean warming has already exceeded one mile in depth...what could happen to the various currents around the world, specifically the gulf stream, which is the life blood of north atlantic fisheries?

Global warming is big news now. We can help by using light colors on buildings, roof tops and wherever it is feasible. We should eliminate black asphalt in parking lots and use pressed gravel and clay. This is used in some cities already. Black asphalt has poor emission and poor reflectivity. It heats the air, pollutes it and contributes to higher electric bills to keep cool. Another is Thermal Heat Island Syndrome. This means in the center of towns there is a lot of black surfaces that absorb the heat and slowly emits it into the atmosphere. Chicago in the year 2000 had over 2000 deaths because of this. Now they have changed from black to light colors where possible. I ask everyone to make an effort in doing this. We can stop global warming or slow it down by doing the right thing. Thank you.

If the U.S.A. and China (or any other nation for that matter), refuses to act on global warming, wouldn't it be reasonable for those of us with a concience, those who care about the kind of world our grandchildren will live in, and those of us who are trying our best to follow a 'green' lifestyle to boycott all goods and services from the offending nations?
Wouldn't this make them sit-up and take notice and eventually get something done about it!?

I'm in the process of doing my own research and reading on the subject, so I'm still working on my opinion about whether or not it's real.
However it would help if you would answer this:
What do you think a legitamite motivation would be for making up global warming?
I can definitely see what the motivation would be for saying it's not real, if it is. If it's real it would hurt a lot of jobs, economies, and put a strain on daily life, and it's scary to think of more hurricanes and such.
Also, I have asthma becuase of the smog I inhaled daily as a child in Southern California. So, even if global warming isn't real, don't you think we should cut down on air pollution, and dependace on a non-renewable source of energy (oil) anyway?

Has any one wondered whether we have enough water to sustain trees which we are all constantly asked to grow to help our environment. I always thought that trees need more water and it gets this from the ground.

Trees will compete with other living beings for scarce resource - namely water!! Have environmetallists gone mad?

I am trying to be energy conscious in these modern times of global warming etc and I have taken to turning lights off in a room when I leave it and turning them back on when I come back in. However I have been told by two seperate people that If I am turning them off and on too frequently that it actually wastes electricity rather than conserves it. Is this so?

It was recently on the news tonight that about 200 scientists gathered and came to the conclusion that global warming is caused by humans.
Im not being funny but you dont need 2 be Einstein to figure that one out.
How much money was wasted to come to this conclusion, i would like to know?
If you have ne views on this put in an answer.

there are no advantages to using fossil fuels if other energy sources are availible. And other sources are becoming available. Why is the Bush administration fighting the idea of global warming? The point is being missed here. The point is- fossil fuels cause wars, spill into the oceans from broken tankers, fund terrorism. If there is no need to use them, why use them? Even if burning them isn't f****ing the climate. There is no good reason to use it, if alternatives can be found. And I don't mean nuclear power either. Isn't it strange that at this time when the countrie's need to get off oil is so clear. (The president & vice president both made their fortunes in oil.) Two characters that are the least likely to want to get off fossil fuel hold the 2 highest positions in the country. Why wouldn't they be blocking the nations intiatives in implementing alternative energies? Bush talks the talk but its just lip service. For the good of the world we need to get off oil.

I know that the Chinese have gone hog wild with their pollution and industry, but can someone direct me to an article that explains exactly how scientists determined that global warming is 90% likely caused by man more so than the well-documented increased heat of the sun? No politics, please.

Could we use nuclear weapons to create a strategic "nuclear winter" that could offset the warming trend until we have the technology to significantly reduce our carbon emissions? Obviously radioactive fallout would pose a problem but what I am most interested in is the theory, which as far as I know I came up with in the car this morning, but I could be wrong.

Today's eminant scientist view that we're all choking the world full of greenhouse gases & methane, cutting tropical forrests down at an alarming rate and other good stuff like this, why can't we see that resources are finite, and one day the ants will inherit the earth. Think what our children's life will be in 40 years time. Anyone got views? Pass me a fair trade coffee while I wait for an answer (me synical?? - perish the thought!!)
