I need an INTERESTING environmental issue that is going on now. ::have to write an excruciatingly long essay and would rather it be mildly entertaining in the writing process, to avoid falling asleep every three words::
-can't write about smoking and what how it effects pollution etc ::my professor smokes:: ::and he's a hard grader:: ::don't want to risk my chances::
-can't write about whale poaching or hurricane issues. ::already taken::

GLOBAL WARMING--FACT OR FICTION?
Certain gases don't let the heat escape from the Earth's surface. It's like putting on an extra blanket or an extra sweater. If you put on a sweater, the sweater does not actually make any heat. It just makes it so that the heat from your body does not escape as easily.
Millions of tons of crap DAILY into the atmosphere is nothing to sneeze at. Pun intended.
We are screwing ourselves over for a buck.
Shooting ourselves in the herd.
Stepping on our own ducks.
Cutting off our nose to spite our finch.
Kicking ourselves in the asparagus beetle.
For the almighty dollar we're ruining it for everybody and everything, and people who deny it are three fries short of a Happy Meal.

Invasive plant and animal species and their affect on native plants and animals. You can talk about a specific place or give examples from all over the world. The Florida everglades has a huge problem with non-natives...probably lots of info on the web. You can talk about habitat distruction, the hole in the ozone layer, global warming, tiger or gorilla poaching, endangered species, etc.
