I work as a primary school teacher teaching 6-7 year olds. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant and work are aware of this. I had 2 teacher trainees last half term and it was alot of work and extra time, something I know we are prepared to do as teachers. However, I have heard that we have more students in January and that 2 are going to be put with me. Normally I would be happy about this but I want to ease off any extra commitments job wise whilst I am pregnant. Do I have a right to refuse to have these 2 students or is it something I have to do? They would be with me for 4 weeks. I would appreciate any advice from other teachers, head teachers etc?

I have noticed that young people more than older people have a hard time spelling. When I went to school and took english class the teacher would give us at least ten words a week to study and take a test on fridays. Then we would have a monthly test on the words to see if we remembered them. Some words I have a hard time with also, but I just go to the merriam webster web site and check it out on my spelling. Has our schools forgot how to teach, or is it that some people don't want to learn? By the way, I am a 1960's high school student.

I must answer this question in one sentence which must include the 3 points I am trying to make (the 3 paragraphs that will make up the body of my essay)

Should the current requirement for becoming a K-12 teacher in Florida be changed?

I believe it should be changed because:
1.Anyone who has a bachelor's degree can become a teacher, that does not mean they are suitable to be a teacher
2.I believe a test of the subject a potential teacher wishes to teach is mandatory
3. The potential teacher should be able to make lesson plans that involve the students. Something thats not boring.. maybe once a week have an activity that relates to the lesson being taught but doesn't bore the hell out of the students.

Can someone tell me how I am supposed to word all that within one sentence!?!?!?!?

okay...so in my economics class one of my friends took a small piece of paper off the wall (a student-made poster) with an answer from one of our packet questions...anyway...class was about to end and the teacher noticed that it was gone and made a HUGE deal about it. My friend wanted to spare himself the embarrassment and turn it in after the bell, after the bell a friend of his turned it back in for him...end of story...I WISH!!! well the teacher ended up making up posters/flyers about finding out who the "mad poster theif" is...He even had a class disscussion about him, while he was home sick yesterday...He wanted us to decide his punishment and his friend's reward...Tomorrow, he will probably humiliate the student...I understand the student should have asked for the poster...Is it just me or is the teacher going too far...?

I want to become a highschool English teacher in Wisconsin, but am discovering that Wisconsin is a rather difficult state to become a teacher in. I can't easily afford to accomodate a 20+ hour block of time to be down on a college campus pursuing a degree in the middle of the work week. I do already have a bachelors degree in Journalism and a minor in English from UW-Milwaukee so it is just the "teaching" aspect that I would need credits in. If anyone else has recently become a teacher in Wisconsin or knows any way to expedite the process, please let me know

I am not saying asking people for help is wrong, please be clear about that.
I am referring to students who simply paste their assignments here and ask for solutions.
I also think the people solving these equations entirely are perhaps more to blame.
The right thing to do is provide productive assistance instead of 'doing the homework'.
Kindly post your take on this.

Hi I am desperate to find the perfect Christmas gift for my teacher. I give her other gifts like cards and stuff just randomly throughout the year so I want her gift to be really special. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had and we are really close, so it is especially important that I find the perfect gift for her. I have a like one idea, I was thinking about giving her something from Coach, the item I was looking at is only like $48.00 and i think she would like it. She is really girly and I don't want to get the usual "teachers" gift I want it to be special and girly and cute so that she will love it. Thank you for the help, this is so, so important to me.!

It seems pretty unfair, considering how underappreciated teachers are already. I want to be an RN and if I get an associates degree I could make a lot more than a teacher with a 4 yr degree or even a higher degree and although I enjoy getting paid more, I feel its not fair to those who continue their education further. Was I looking at some bad figures or is it the ugly truth?

What am I supposed to say during the job interview when they ask
"Why should we hire you?" It's not just "I love kids" I know that.

I'm a math tutor who teaches students high school math and Calculus. Are there any programs out there that assist me in creating questions and tests? Mainly, I'm interested in creating problems using the various mathematical symbols (something that can't easily be done in Microsoft Word), the integral symbol, and fractions (x/y does not look like how i want x divided by y to look like, and neither does x^2, or "x squared".

What I'm hoping for are math teachers that can enlighten me. I want to create printable sheets of questions to help me in teaching my students.
