I offered to coach my young neighbour in his English and math and we had our first class yesterday. But now I don't want to help him anymore, 'cos I was doing it for the money and now I realized I don't need the extra money. How do I tell the mother that I can't teach him anymore? What would be the best excuse?

Please help!

What do you think.....comments? whatever???
OK. There was a girl who was adopted from Colombia a few months before school started. She barely knew English. On the first day of class..the 4th grade teacher got a big surprise..challenge! How could she teach this girl math, science, etc. ? The school did not offer an assistant/translator and did not seem to care that this girl would be getting so far behind in other course work while she mean while learned her new language. My mother worked at the same school and immediately called me...the Spanish major...to help when she heard about it. I went in to translate a few days a week for a couple of hours when I did not have class. The principal saw me in there helping a few times and never said anything. After a couple of months my job kept me from helping the teacher out. The girl was fully capable:after I explained in Spanish she could do it. The school never offered me a position and never got the girl help.

1. Sally is a bright student and always participating. However, she wants to be the ONLY one participating. You've took her aside and explained that it is important for EVERYONE to participate, but you appreciated her eagerness. She still continues to not give others a chance.
Do you...?
a. talk with her again and explain in a different way
b. try to ignore her when she is frantically waving her hand to answer
c. put her in someone else's class
d. (other)

2.David is a new student in the middle of the year. You are in the middle of the chapters so he won't be able to understand the last half without the first half.
Do you..?
a. have in him before/afterschool/during recess to get him caught up
b. give him busy work and he'll jump in on the new chapter
c. just pretend he has been there all along
d. (other)

Ok, my teacher asked me to start off my speech with an attention getter. He said that he usually starts off with a bible verse..

Does anyone have any ideas? This speech is an introduction speech, introducing myself to the class, by the way.
