I don't know about that exactly, but one thing I think it does show us is how uninformed many Americans are about world geography when it comes to world events. I was still in college when the current Iraq/ Afghanistan conflict started and the number of people who couldn't find the countries where we were senidng troops on a map is apalling. Geography is one area of U.S. education that could stand to be greatly improved.

There really is a reasonable answer, that makes sense even to those who can't embrace the very idea of a Deity. If you refer to the God of the Christian belief, or of Judaism (from which Christianity sprang, being called by the Judaic believers,a "cult," in the early stages of followers) then war is not God's way of doing anything. It's the end result and sometime necessity of Man's attitudes and actions. Read in Genesis, beginning with a place like ch.6, which tells God's reaction to those things mentioned- and going thru the book, Joshua's story. The instruction of God on how to wage war was that everyone, even the animals, of the adversary, be killed. The sensible reason (and the reason not to do it?) - Unless you kill ALL, the next, surviving generation, has been given sufficient reason to come after YOUR next generation(s), and it will never be over. War = nobody ever wins, because it's not a "game." (sent to you by a veteran, happy to tell you, please don't do it, war)

No, I imagine war is more about people killing each other over disagreements. Let's not trivialize the loss of life, okay? While I understand you get your geography instruction from war reports, just remember people die or are maimed in these things and they need our respect, no matter which side of the war they are fighting on.
