Wow again the same ??? there is only five continents
the American continent it is divide in north central and south
If you say north America and south America where do you leave Center America in this case will be 8 continents you can not say Center America is part of South America or part of North America...
Go and ask to some one from Guatemala if he or she is south American or north American...and Look this

It all depends on your definition of continent... Webster's dictionary says a continent is "one of the six or seven great divisions of land on the globe". My French dictionary says it's a "large surface of land, bordered by one or many oceans" (free translation). Other definitions are "one of the large landmasses of the earth", or "One of the large, continuous areas of the Earth into which the land surface is divided".
You can argue both ways. I know technically Asia and Europe are on the same piece of landmass, therefore should be the same continent (referred to as Eurasia), but then again, you get the continent which I was taught was "Oceania", which comprises Australia, New Zealand, etc. Not a continuous area there, right?
You can argue either ways until your face turns blue, it's a question of how you separate the world.

North and South America are separate, and Europe and Asia are connected, but very different. I can see where the 5 continent idea comes from, but i like 7.

Wow, from the structure of your sentence, I would bet you didn't pay attention in English class. Or, are you under the influence of the US education system?
