Yes the west is way too easy on kids. Pretty much now days if a student is doing poorly the blame immediately falls on the teacher and school. Regardless of if the student gives any effort in school or if the parents give any support at home. Lots of cultures value education and if the school has to call home for ANY reason, that kid knows he/she is in BIG trouble. Many times here if a parent gets a phone call they're more annoyed at being bothered by something the teacher and school should be handling since they're the educators.

the asian kids know more challegeing stuff because they go to school until like 5 o clock pm. and if u dont do well the teacher will hit u.
but the west learn the same thing, except on slower rates.
but the west kids have alot more freedom and stuff also i think the west acutally is smarter in somethings and i think they do things more quickly ,more thinking, persuadtion and other stuff cause the asain people are like zombies lol!
if u get an answer wrong in asia u proably would get hit ,or at least in taiwan..

Well, the United States is certainly too easy with the education. We're probably one of the few countries that don't require you to have specialized knowledge of a few subject areas, because we have a more general education. And our schools don't have national exams like most do (like Britain has the GCSEs and A-Levels, and most countries have exit exams).
I mean, I even know a few people who can't answer simple reading questions out of a general information book (probably on early middle school level), despite the fact that they were in high school juniors at the time. That must reflect on how bad our school system is if they couldn't read that well by the time they were that age.
Probably only our honors, AP, and IB classes are equivalent to what most of the world gets (if they're not just doing technical education . . .America does have pretty good technical programs).

I disagree that the west is too easy. One of the main differences between the US educational system and other systems is the fact that we educate EVERYBODY. Students with learning disabilities, English learners, and low income students all receive 13 years of free education.
Other countries do not always provide this. The US public education system gets a bad rap for not having strenuous curriculum, but as a public school teacher, I can see that it's not true.

Yes I do. Europeans, Africans, and Asians always seem to have a more advanced knowledge compared to the same age here in the US. Unfortunately our school system focuses on how to make us proud of being Americans and teach us our proud history, which is very good of course, but they really should teach our kids how to do math properly and how to use their brains in logical and critical thinking as opposed to finding answers right in front of their nose.
Because my dad is a scientist, i got to travel and live in many places, and finally settled home in the US 7 years ago, I was amazed on how easy it was (in college) to get A's especially in math, physics, chemistry, etc.
So we, Americans, think that foreign students are smart, where in reality they just had a more loaded schooling system than our kids.
This is my opinion nonetheless :)
