I am a new teacher in the subarbs... I previously taught in a more urban/mainly black and hispanic area. Now I have parents who are questioning my skills. Some don't want their kids in my class because it's my first time teaching the 3rd grade. How should I feel about this?

I need to prepare a review class that involves grade 9-12 math. I need to find some good example questions, hopefully the more the better they benefit from it.

When my students do group work and are highly engaged, it can be hard to get their attention. I want something that I can click to get their attention, so I don't have to say, "Okay, everyone, I need your attention...quiet everyone, look at me..." etc. etc. I used to have a little metal frog that made a noticeable but NON-IRRITATING click when I squeezed it, and the students knew to get quiet and look at me when I used it. Does anyone know of anything like this that I can buy or use??? I don't want a bell. That's annoying for everyone. Any ideas??? Thanks! :)

How long should I be teaching each subject? Our district is changing how long our kids go to school. They gave us times for us to teach each subject in the past, however, with a longer day I am unsure how long each subject should be taught.

I am currently studying my Masters in Physical Education, and off course I am not a certified teacher yet to teach. My question is if anyone out there knows how I can start to work within my field while still completing my studies. Maybe to work as an assistant Phys Ed teacher or something similar to that. I have tried to find out information on the web but all the job postings is for those who are already certified. Does anyone have any answers it will truly be appreciated.

I am interested in pursuing a career in teaching but I am not 100% sure. I was wondering what other teachers did before going back to school? Does substitute teaching give you a good sense of what it is like to teach? I have a full-time job right now and I am hesitant to quit and start subbing...any advice?

A bunch of sophmores yelled and cursed at them and said they were going to use the song instead. My granddaughters friend spent a lot of money on props, clothing and the CD. The teacher said "since your are freshmen, you have to give up the song so the sophmores can use it." My husband said this is normal in every school. I think it is wrong of the teacher to encourage the older students to do this. What do you think??
