Can anyone recommend a good FREE online classroom website creator? I teach 4th grade and would like to create a website for my class. I looked into teacherweb.com but it cost $27 year. Anything similar but free?

For people who have taught at both locations, what are some of the differences and pros/cons about teaching at a community college and teaching at a high school?

I've taught English and Humanities at community colleges, and I currently teach elementary school music at a private school. But I've never taught English at the HS level and want to know its ups and downs.

Thanks!

As a secondary educator...I've seen the written language go downhill in answers to questions from my students...The spelling is terrible/too many computer abbreviations/poor handwritting/lack of sentence structure or flow of thoughts....etc..Do others feel the same way or if you are an employer: Do you see this same lack of command of the written language hindering your employees and your productivity?
I'm curious and hope others have noticed the same things.....or am I being picky.....

I have two questions for you: (1) About how much time outside of the classroom do you spend preparing for class and grading papers? (2) What, in your experience, are the biggest challenges of teaching this grade level?

How can any prof. have the opportunity to know you well enough to write you a rec.? If you only see them for one semester and that is usually not good enough to them, then what am I suppose to do to earn a rec.? I get A's in the classes. What else could I possibly do to qualify for one???? How will I ever get a rec.?

I have worked in places that were union and as a consumer I have a choice on if I do business with them or not. I think if I am forced to pay tax dollars as a parent, I should have more of a say so. I have noticed that the NEA activly takes political positions I do not agree with and will go as far as endorsing canidates. I think this is garbage. The schools that we are being forced to fund are ran by unions. These members decide everything and always want more money and to not be held accountable for their performance. Is there any group out there that is trying to get legistlation through to stop teachers unions?

The other Spanish teacher at my school and I put on a little festival for the whole school, using Cinco de Mayo as our excuse for having our students research some aspect of some Latin American (or Spanish) culture and present what they learned in little "booths."

It went well, and I think it did a lot of the kids good to realize that not all Latinos are Mexicans, for one. Teachers loved bringing their classes, and they usually learned something too!

My question is, should we do it again? Don't worry, we will be using the date of the victory at Puebla again. However, our school year's divided 2.

We were thinking of doing something during Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15), but would it be overkill to do the same kind of thing? Should we do something different to meet the research, sharing, & celebration requirements? Maybe something like they do for Native American month: little known facts during announcements?

I'm open to suggestions!

Often times children would come home from school, "scared and confused".
There was really no one they could talk to.
At school they would use the "paddle" or the "spanking" to attempt to instill FEAR into you. But first and foremost it was very PERVERTED. (it is a SEXUAL device/tool in it's real ethical use) So it placed the child in a peculiar position, a scare tactic stemming from a perverted device.

Down the hall there was murdered-BEEF and raped-CHEESE for sale....

Spankings and paddlings are sexual, or that is the CORECT use of such methods(most generally used between consensual lovers). Is there a case for "corruption" of a minor? What do they say about the boy who would be confused as he would get errections "thinking/fantasizing" about his gradeschool teacher with the paddle in her hand or dangling from her wall..a sexual frame of reference.
