I survived Hurricane Katrina. I was one of the lucky ones and didn't lose all that much. My home is liveable and I had power restored after two weeks. I was able to return to work after two weeks
and that helped. My husband had major surgery at the end of September, 2005 and I had to carry everything on my shoulders for awhile. I kept moving
forward because moving backwards, standing still and
giving up was not options. I had a child to look after and she needed me to be strong. I don't know
how this fits in with your aptitude question but
sometimes life isn't about aptitude, it's about
strength of character.

well...my husband is Mexican and we went 2 days before the wedding to get the marriage liscense. His Mexican ID had expired unknowingly (and of course he couldn't go back to Mexico in 2 days to get it or go to the Mexican Council here in short notice) and they would not give us the liscence. They told us he could use his birth certificate so we handed it to them....but they said "we can't take this because it isn't in english...well duh!!! so they said if we have someone translate it ..it would be fine (but of course me...Miss Spanish major wasn't allowed to..it had to be an official...notarized..etc deal!) so we found someone to do it and we were supposed to pick it up the next morning....he had an emergency and was not able to do it! I was getting sicker to my stomach and angry..scared...EVERYTHING by the second!! He said he would have it by that evening...still nothing!! So the day before the wedding it was finally taken care of and the stupid liscense people took it!!! we got married!
