I am trying to get the college ball rolling. I am a 36 yr. old male and a disabled veteran. I recently found out that with my disability that I can go to college for basically free according to the Veterans Administration. The purpose behind this is to give me the capabilities to perform a job that will not be hindered by my disability. I had to leave a very good job with the railroad on account of my disability and currently I am at the biggest crossroad of my life. I would like to pursue a teaching degree with a health science thrown into the mix. Anyone with a similiar situation that could lend a old guy some help?

Thank you,

JD

I know public school teachers don't make the best money, as a matter of fact money isin't even that much of an issue (I think). But, I have a heavy appreciation for history and a desire to teach. For some reason though this job isin't very popular. WHAT SHOULD I DO????

In your experience, is it easier to learn mathematics in English or in Filipino?
English is the government approved language for teaching Math right? But in real life, teachers use a combination of English and a particular regional vernacular.

I do believe that it is easier to learn and to teach mathematics and the sciences in the type of lingo the students are at home with. What do you think

Im looking for advice from some teachers out there. I want to be a teacher, however Im nervous the pay will not be nearly "enough". I would like to teach high school and coach on the high school level. I've done research, and teachers in my area actually make more than most (around 40K)..which isn't bad to start. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the pay is enough. Im also wondering how much a teachers salary will go after gaining a masters degree and experience..(from 40K)....

Northside would be good. But will accept south-side and west side opportunities. Primary consideration to those schools with library books and resources.
