It's only a class of around 15 students, and last year it went pretty well, but there are always those few that cause problems. How can I keep a good learning environment for the kids but also keep those who want to disrupt in line??

I have a college degree and masters degree- neither of which are in education. I have been working as a substitute teacher and want to teach full time. However, I can't afford to go back to school- I already have way too much debt! Does anyone know what state I could get easily get a teaching credential without a big hassel? I live in CA and it's a big ordeal to get a credential here. Also, the cost of living is so high that it's hard to get by on a teacher's salary. I have heard that there are states that don't even really require you to take any certification exams as long as you have a college degree. Any help would be appreciated!

I noticed on my curriuclum guide that I am supposed to fit in Beowulf, Canterbury Tales, and Hamlet into a semester for high school English, along with daily grammar, vocab and test prep. Do you think it is better to just squeeze these three works of lit into a semester or just take my time and go into the next semester with them?

I've heard that you do not necessarily need "all" the credentials to become an elementary teacher in a catholic school. I don't quite believe it myself. What classes would I need to take & what degrees would I need to obtain to become an elementary school teacher (public & private school)?

Does it not occur to you that YELLING at children is abusive? The only reason you yell is because you CAN'T control your environment. And you DON'T KNOW BETTER. If you don't have a constuctive way to control a classroom than why don't you just go out and get help with this? Do you realize that these children take you home with them? Yes, I'm an angry parent right now because of a teacher sending my 7 year old into a panic attack today. What made her think that YELLING was ok? She put a look on my baby's face I've never seen before.

Please go to the web site www.letssaythanks.com . You can pick
out a thank you card and the Xerox Corporation will print it and it will be
sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can't pick out
who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services. It is
FREE and it only takes a second. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers
received a bunch of these?
