When a metal rod (say zinc) is dipped in a solution of it's salt (say 1 molar zinc sulphate), what would be the work done in bringing a unit positive charge from infinity to the metal?

Would the potential (i) in the bulk of the rod, (ii) on the surface of the rod, (iii) in the solution which is at 0.05 nm away from solution and (iv) in the bulk of the solution be calculate?

Can we assign absolute potential values for all these 4 regions? If yes, what would be their values?

I just read an article about cheating and was curious. Last year at school the older kids would go to the bathroom and text the answers to the other class. They were actually being busted for something entirely different when they gave this away. a duh.

In the name of organizing my classroom, I plan on implementing various duties--delegating some of my busy work, if you will.

I plan on having one student summarize what absentees missed and collect their materials, one collect assignments, one in charge of materials distribution, 2 in charge of keeping track of the classroom library, and 2 in charge of keeping the cooler filled (one in first period, one in fourth to replace it in the freezer).

I teach high schoolers, so I want a reward that will give them a little extra incentive for helping out. I was planning on excusing the different assistants from starters or exit slips as a reward, but I'm not sure if I really want them to miss starters sometimes. I couldn't think of ANY appropriate incentive for the materials manager, either.

My plan is more carefully laid out here: http://www.xanga.com/Huerter0/493088001/policy-plans.html

I am teaching 6th grade English for the first time next year. I'm looking for suggestions for novels to read aloud to the class - something which will keep them engaged and interested, but that also has some "literary" value.

If you have taught 6th or 7th grade, or if you can remember something a teacher read to you that really captured your imagination, I would really appreciate your input.

I don't have much of a literature background, and am preparing to teach in the next six months to a year. I want a balance of YA and "classics." I've had a random sampling of works in undergrad, where I studied journalism, and grad school. Shakespeare and The Odyssey are covered. What else?

I've been in banking for 3 years but have recently decided that I would like to pursue a career in teaching (something I've wanted to do since I was young). I'm worried I'll have difficulties since I've been in banking since I graduated college and haven't really worked with children. My degree is in psychology and I graduated in 2002. Would substitute teaching for a little while be good enough to get experience?
