Well I think if it interests the students, and encourages them to read theres nothing wrong with it.

It happens in a lot more than one school! More and more schools are realizing the literary genius of Harry Potter, and even Christian schools are starting to realize how much Christian imagery is in the books. It is a much better book for kids to read than some of the garbage they read in schools now. I would much rather my kids read Harry Potter than Lord of the Flies. If you wonder about the Christian response to Harry Potter, go to the website I've included below. There is a fantastic book by John Granger, called "Looking for God in Harry Potter" that will set most people's mind at ease about their kids reading the series.

If it makes reading fun and exciting there is nothing wrong with it- but educationalists may debate about any given book regarding its suitability in any given curriculum. The advantages to it being read in school is that the teacher can help them distinguish what is fact and what is fiction whereas at home those explanations might not be given.

It's up to the parents of the kids to say whether it's right or not. If the parents are not happy with it, then they will probably need to put their child into another school.
