What is a different/creative way to learn the Mexican states? and/or the LatinAmerican countries and their capitals? (Of course I could do this on my own, but I wanted to waste 5 points)

I made a worksheet with maps of Latin America and the Caribbean. To the side of each map, I listed the countries depicted, with a color next to each--in Spanish. Basically, it was a color-by-country activity. The visual and kinesthetic learners got to do something, and they got to review colors too! I think I still have it and could send it to you if you're interested.

I think a spelling bee for Mexican states would be fun, especially when they get to some of the non-Spanish-origin ones. Nayarit--phonetic, yes, but not along the usual Spanishy patterns.

I have always fantasized about making a big floor poster or something and moving all the chairs to the edge of the room to identify countries and/or capitals a la Carmen Sandiego. Remember how they had to run around and mark places with posts? Kids could just stomp them in the classroom maybe.

Maybe you could also distribute pictures or names of countries (or maybe a postcard scene with the name?) to half the class and capital names to the other half, and they have to find their better halves.

Take the first letter of each country/state and make up a silly sentence. For example, countries of South America. Starting at the top and going counterclockwise: V C E P C A U P B B S FG G
