I am in a very bad situation. I have 3 children that go to school. The teachers in our district are currently on strike. There are some, not all , of the teachers that have been accused of threatening parents and children during the strike. The same teachers were yelling "stranger danger" to the children who crossed the picket lines to go to school. One of the teachers is actually my son's 2nd grade teacher. This teacher was also one who was jumping on cars and screaming.
The story gets bigger...my MOTHER in LAW is the president of this school systems Board of Education. So I am actually caught in the middle here. I have not shown any support either way in my community. I am a concerned parent first!
My question is....should I risk sending my child back into this teacher's classroom when the strike is over? Is there a law that can protect my child? I'm just so scared for them.

ok so my son has been having problems with her math teacher he is in 7th grade and it seems the teacher had been putting him on the spot and when my son asks her a question she always seems to ignore him . my son is in choir and it is the only class he is failing so h wont be able to sing anymore .we already spoke to the principal about it and the teacher but i sometimes thin that its more like a personal problem with him
theres like 3 other math teachers i think maybe her teaching method is not helping and i want to change him to another math techer .has anyone gone thru this problem before where the child doesnt feel comfortable anymore with the teacher ? if so what can we do

I'm writing a fairy tale kind of story for school. A character that's a girl is perfect in everything she does and I want to give her a name that illustrates that, but I can't think of one. Maybe the word brave or courageous translated into Greek or Latin. I don't know, but if anyone has a good idea for name please write it.

Would you send him to school the next day.

Well the school nurse checked his class today and that's what happened. I am not sending him tomorrow. I called the principal and he was not very concerned about the "outbreak".

Is it fair to be issued 2 after school detentions with writing lines??

If I get B+, they say we move here and I am wasting my education. If I go to school in India I would have more homework and make an A. Then they give me worksheet to practice more and I want to be with my friends.

What is it like in India?

Kids that are considered smart are continually bullied in school and are not defended by the teachers. Free thinking is considered trouble making and new ideas and thinking out of the box is considered coloring out of the lines. Does our system really stunt the intellectual growth in our society?

1) He is not a coach. It's an elective class on technology.
He uses the h-word/d-word quite fluently, I must say, when he is angry. Is this right?

k so i just started 9th grade. im really overworked and stressed like crazy. im tired, and im going crazy. theres so much work in school. i get like a project every week. tests are hard. idk maybe this is just cause this is my first year? i am very organized and i know how to manage time. but theres simply not enough time to do everything. i get home at 5. i eat for about half an hour. and then start hw. i finish at about 8 or 9, and by then im exhausted. some days i got bball practice so yeah. i got absolute no time for friends or anything! and projects are flying by like i dont even know what. i already had like 3 science projects, 1 math project, and 2 english projects... and more.
i know this excuse wont fly by with my teachers so that option is cancelled out. uhm ive done fairly well for my first marking period! all e's except 1 g and 1 s.... ive noticed even ive got breathing problems breathing. and i get like 6,7 hrs of sleep.
can anyone help in anyway?please? thank you!

I'm not in any clubs (because our schoold is dumb and only lets us have clubs after school, and no one wants to do it after school), but I wouldn't really mind joining one. I am active in yearbook though. I'm a junior and we're pre-ordering a lot of stuff for our senior year (senior pages/class rings, etc).

Just curious.

Today a friend of mine asked to go to the washroom during class but he was actually skipping. We had a sub so since he was sitting near me and my other friend, she came over to us and asked us what his name was after he was gone for a good 10 mins. We said we didn't know and she got upset and said that we do. While she doesn't know my name, she could just tell my regular teacher where I sat and my regular teacher would know that I lied cuz she knows i do know the guy that skipped. Should I be worried that I'll get into trouble when/if they find my friend skipped? I only lied cuz he's my friend but i still feel uneasy about it and a bit worried that i'll get into trouble; i don't think i'll be confronted and asked to tell the truth but confronted as to why i didn't tell the sub his name when i knew it.
