Education should make us more cultured and compassionate, otherwise how do we distinguish between the educated and an uneducated? Two close associate who mastermind terror attacks are highly educated: one, an MD in paediatrics and the other a PhD in Jurisprudence! Don't you think that we must do something to make education that reforms individual from evil to enlightenment?

When I was in 4th grade [back around 1974], I auditioned for the school talent show and didn't make it. [Frankly, I had no talent.] My "rejection" slip thanked me for auditioning but that unfortunately not everyone could be in the show. The slip also had some festive drawings on it to keep the mood light.

My niece, now in 4th grade herself, auditioned for her school's talent show last week, and just showed me the rejection slip she received today. It had drawings of those hideous, attitude-laden Bratz dolls and had this text: "Tough luck, girl -- we can't ALL be Divas." One of the Bratz was looking away with her nose turned up, and her hand was up in one of those vapid ghetto "talk to the hand" insults.

What the hell has happened to manners, civility, respect, and letting kids have innocent and simple childhoods? Why didn't the teacher use a simple and gentle "thanks but no thanks" note? Why on earth is coarse "attitude" being glamorized by an elementary school teacher?

We got all of our tests from Term One. We got them from Reading, writing, math and science. Now, I did exceptionally well in all the tests except for one. I got a low mark (under 70) in a math quiz I have to tell my mother. Of course I am dreading that, but I have to. If you were her how would you react? Don't forget I did exceptionally well in everything

My son is a five year old in kindergarten. I ordered two shirts. He came home with only one. I thought he had left it so he went back and asked his teacher and she said that she seen a student with a shirt that didnt order one. When I learned about it I called and left a message for his teacher. I am also going to send a letter in his folder. He told me the little boy was asking for his shirt and he said no, all of a sudden later it is missing. What should I do ?

I'm 18 years old and I made some bad decisions a while back and now I'm trying to fix things. I am doing correspondence and I have grade 10 completed so far.

I really want to just get rid of high school and get a GED. Having to complete high school is really holding my life back. I want to do a lot of things. I want to get fun hobbies, take different classes, save up money, ect.

I don't really like school, so I don't see myself going to university. I can see myself doing a job in the military(which I will almost certainly join, then decide what I want to do in life), police, or trades. I live in Alberta, Canada - a province with a strong economy and getting a job is easy. If I did decide to go into the trades it would be no problem finding a job.

I guess the problem would be getting into school for said job. What negatives are there in getting a GED, based on what I plan to do? Will I be able to get into college if I decide to, and do employers not hire GEDs as much

i love fashion and i spend most of my time on it. but, it's really affecting my schoolwork. i don't know the great ways to memorize vocab words, or study for a big test. it makes me bored enough to go sew a purse or look at "seventeen" magazine. and usually its the same result with having my parents yell at me for not working harder! and it makes me feel really guilty. but i can't control it. all i want to do after school is sew or look in my closet. and that leads to staying up 'till midnight complaining about math homework. so please, anyone? i need some big help here. im in 7th grade also

I go to a public school and it was really fun in the beginning but now that I have settled in I do not like it at all.It is a big school which I like. I went to private before and i got way more attention so I did well in middle school but now that I am in high I got a C on one of my grades and that is not ok. Also the popularity thing is A HUGE THING at my school. YOUr poop if your not popular I am friends with some of the popular people so i sit with them but i hate how bad they make u feel.

My best friend goes to another public school not to far away ..thing is its huge like so big its the size of a college but it has like small schools inside of it. Each small school treats your like a private schoool. one my friend is in it she says she is doing so great in it because her teachers help her like at a private schoool.I would really like to go to this school I want to transfer but I think my parents will get mad because I used to like my school. help me think of a way to tell them

I get:

A's and B's in english, history, spelling, grammar etc...
C's and D's in math (and math isn't my best subject AT ALL)
C's and B's in Science
B's in gym
B's and C's in French
B's in Art

What does this mean? Am I an average student? I dunno, I have been wondering for years!!

P.S Can u also tell me what percentage I am out of 100%? With all the subjects?

i missed 5 days in a row of school(totals my absences to 10) and i dont really know why. after i missed the 2nd or 3rd day of school in a row i felt that if i went back my teachers would be upset with me cuz i already missed a lot of days and we havent even finished our first semester. i didnt want to face all the teachers cuz i would feel guilty of my absences and my language arts teacher gives me a lot of hw while my other teachers are lovely. i feel like i will be so behind if i go back now and my friends make me feel embarressed when they ask me if i am going to drop out. everyone is going to be pestering me about my absences including my classmates, teachers , and principal. i cant face this but i have to go back cuz im not in high school yet. NEED ADVICE!!!
