Primary & Secondary Education - November 2006

I have a 3.89 GPA in 8th grade for the first marking period. I want to take honors classes in high school. If my GPA stays the same, is this high enough to get into accelerated classes?

The scissors is consider a weapon.He's in big trouble and the Sheriff gave him a ticket for a weapon.He told the school that he had it because he was going to get jump.he also stated that he was just going to show it to them to scared them off.The way they found out was by him dropping them from his pocket.He didn't use it at all. I am a senior in high school and lately I've been letting my senior year pass by so lazily. It's like I don't care at all about my grades and assume I will graduate nonethelsess, which I will do, but I'm just not paying attention anymore in class, not doing any homework @ all, and not caring about the bad grades I am now receiving.
I've been hit with a "laissez-faire" attitude this year, because frankly, I am SICK of school, sick of being in it, and so tired of doing needless work.
Is this out of the ordinary for me to feel this way and do this? Is it okay, if I know I can still get all my credits 2 graduate (D's, mind you- that's all the military said I needed), to do this? I just can't strive myself anymore to do well in school. I am just so tired of being here.

I've actually been suicidal, but I'm blocking those thoughts and am feeling a bit better just now. My parents don't believe in mental illness, only physical illness. But I hate physical excuses, so I need a cool reason. I like "you were so upset to hear about sadam hussein being executed" so like that!

My daughter is in the 5th grade. Her teacher gave an assignment that consists of a 4 page report on the nervous system, and to make a model to present how the system works to the class. She gave the assignment so they could do it over Thanksgiving Break. I am a teacher, and I feel that this is beyond the level these children are working at. Not to mention, requiring them to do it over their time off. They are 10 years old for crying out loud. How would you handle this situation? By the way, the whole project is only worth 50 points.

Everyone is tease one time or another in there life. But, school bullying is becoming a serious issue in our schools today. If you were teased, by "whom" and for what? To specify "whom", just say a classmate or teacher.

please help!!! I lost 2 people of whom I was very close to when I was 11. after that I couldn't cope anymore. i fell into depression.also..my mum was abusive towards me/neglected me.....but i was too scared to say anything.I started to refuese to go to school....as i could not cope with the grief...and also the neglect at home. this me refusing to go to school on-and-off carried on for the next 2 years before finally i quit going to school altogether as I could no longer cope at all. throughout all this no-one ever gave me any help for my school phobia. my parents didn'thave a clue how to get me a proper education(my mum had never been to college even and didn't even know what University is)i ended up having 3 measly hours of tuition at home per week, with not even a qualified teacher and all she did was make me learn out of a book. I ended up getting G grades in my GCSE exams (apart from a C in english) i got no help. am now 18. how can i fix my situation?? PLEASE HELP"!!

Has anybody had a situation where you have to move out of state and you or your child is in high school with 1-2 month left (freshman). The school in the new state ends 3 weeks earlier, which really leaves you a 2-4 weeks to attend the new school before summer. Is it possible to ask for earlier exam and get credits for the class so you don't have to bother with the new school until fall?

I am a high school student.I don't like the school where now I studying.I want to study somewhere else.Where I can feel the real high school life the enjoyment and the best of it.But my parents do not alowed me transfer school because where I studying know will give a scholarship if I finished there so many beneficial and when I become a collage student all the expenses will be all free.But I want to study in school where I lke not in that school so boring not a high school.And how can I feel be a teenager I want to be a teen not like being stuck for so many years.Now I its my time to be free and feel the high school life.
